Admitting the CUCV to the hospital...

and letting the professionals do it.

With limited time, tools, and space, I finally (with some prodding from the higher ups) called a mechanic. Threads for reference-

It won't be cheap, but if it gets back on the road well worth it. I felt like the guy on the "chevy runs deep" commercial.
Backing it out of the garage and onto a trailer with no front wheels looked fun.

I hope the patient makes it out of the E/R! If I were you, I'd hi-tail it over to the shop and watch them put it back together, might learn something.

yep. For some reason, all the pics I send from my blackberry to the computer come out sideways. I forgot to rotate them before I attached them. Standby

I hope they git'er fixed up soon and it don't cost ya too much. Were there any other issues with it besides the obvious front end problems in the pics?

There was a dent in the front diff cover. When I took it off, I noticed there was some gouging on it. Not good.
I told him if he gets me safely back on the road I'll be happy and he'll be a stud.

Have you looked around for another good complete diff? I'm sure they're out there and affordable.

I have not. I'm sapped of funds, energy, and patience for a little bit. Good to not have to see it there lifeless at least.

See if you can go over and watch them, seriously! I watched the guy doing my 1/2 ton change gears and learned how to set up new gears....And you can get that smell back - LOL!

Wish i could have helped but my knowledge of axles only goes as far as takeing the Diff-cover off. Hope your back on the road soon.
