I noticed your side racks aren't all the way down. Are they stuck? I got a new, and I mean new, M105 and tried to put sideracks from another 105 on, and the posts get stuck in the sockets. Just wondering if you are having same problem.

Good looking truck. Have you checked cruising speed yet? Curious to what you get.

I like the setup with the tools box and the spare tire. I want to do tha same thing with my M36E3. I am trying to get a M105A3 bed for it. But i will have to cut the frame on that one.

To each their own, but why would you bob a truck as rare as that longbed??? Why not sell it to an MV guy/collector who will appreciate it/restore it and just bob a run-of-the mill deuce and swap a Cummins into it? What a crime...:roll:

They had some M36A2 a while back on GL in PA.

My mistake. I've only seen the M35 variants with Cummins engines and 5-speeds, but not with Cat engines (yet another reason not to cut it up). That truck might be the only one like it in civilian hands.

As for the M36A2's in PA, they only have the body and frame in common with your truck. I would not understand buying one of those to bob either, given their relative rarity in the MV world.

It's a free country and all, but what a crime.

I can't really use the truck with how long it is. I can't turn it around in a confined area.
If i stripped out the frame and swapped it all over to a different frame (other then making alot of work), what would i be saving? A long frame? Are these that special?
I had posted this truck on this site before the auction ended. Someone could have stepped up to the plate and outbid me.

It will look good when it is done. It still will be a one of a kind piece. and it won't be pink.

I am sure you guys will approve when you see the end result.

Ecostruction ,its a brand new 105 box,but I cant get the side racks all the way down. Sounds like the same problem your having.

:deadhorse:sorry but your 105 bed has been modified.. heres a pic of one of my 105's and all of mine look the same. check out your side stake supports, they are right next to each other. maybe thats why your side boards aren't going down??Please tell me whats different.

Do you want to sell the M36E3? I am not in the market, but there has to be someone who will trade you a nice truck and cash or buy it straight up. I saw that truck and watched it, but could not pull the trigger. A CAT with a manual transmission seems awful appealing to me. I suppose it will be cool in a bobber, too, if that is your thing. Good luck with the conversion.

I know that I am kinda a newby here but I have pretty much decided on a 5 ton with the cummins. I also know that I am kinda late in the post but the photo sold me on bobbin the 5 ton over the deuce. With that in mind I have the following questions.

1. I am a little lost over yall's concerns about the tire pressure. Does the bob affect the handling that much.

2. Do you have any photo's of the Suspension or project photo's ? Would be great to see how you did the bob.

3. Has anyone experienced towing with a bobed 5 ton. Nothing too big, maybe a car hauler or something around 5000 lbs.

4. Ugh, whats a sprag problem?

5. How do you think she'll handle on the beach (it's also my fishing vehicle) and also rainslick streets. We don't get much rain here in San Anontio but when we do the streets are bad for 18 wheelers runnin bobtailing.

Thanks for the advise in advance I really appreciate it. I am pretty good with the torch and welder I just got to get the new terminology down pat. (ie sprag problem)

Tires pressure makes a big difference in handling and ride.Rear suspension is easy,just remove old tandem suspension and replace with another set of 5 ton front springs.
