If I have not divulged herein, these are HEMTT seats.
I got incredibly lucky and found 2 for sale on an online
auction site and grabbed them for a fair dollar, well,
I think I paid about 75% off retail including shipping
so I did well, your mileage will vary.

If anyone within earshot has a cool MV way of adding
an Am/FM radio ANTENNA please chime in. I would love
a dual purpose antenna that serves as a height guage out
front too. 9' to 10' tall

The PS air ride seat to match the DS seat is still in the works.
The box the PS seat sits on was sectioned and chopped making
a 2" drop for the new bitch seat so both seats will sit at the
same height, but as usual, I saw opportunity and the PS box
not only is being made ready for an air ride seat with
4 point seat belts that match the DS, but I am adding
a SONY GS system radio in the box too. Not sure if it will
bump or not but an amp can always be added later.

Stay Tuned, This mod will ROCK . . .

Here is a teaser pic of the woof, note the green screw detail! :) ;

I used a base load CB antenna. I took it apart (it was an old one) removed the winding off the oil, soldered a new wire straight through to contact the whip and painted it black. Only about 4 feet tall but works awesome. It matches my functioning CB antenna as well. I thought I had pictures to post for you but will try tomorrow if ya like. They're on my HET, along with a scanner and cellular antenna for a booster.

I noticed in our email conversation you said you were anal, that's an understatement! Your attention to detail is pretty amazing. I'm more of a "as long as it runs who cares how it looks" kind of guy, but I do admire those of you who are this detail oriented.

ps, this is how we handle the "details". Tagged a steel pole with the front bumper of the 917, no worries, I had something to straighten it out :lol:.

Oh man...how I know about the front bumpers on these beasts.
Your method is viable unless you pull the bumper! I would do the
same if I had that excavator.

"they all do that" comes to mind.

Just yesterday I showed the front bumper to my welder.
I can weld but this kid can lay down stackOdimes welds par exelence'.
I have plans on extending the front bumper
out as far as vehicle code will allow, I think that is 24" in front of
the fender and adding a winch or two and storage.
Maybe 2- 18K air clutch MRAP Warn winches. I am running
2 Sears batteries BTW Abrant and elec system is bone stock.
If I add winches I will add two more batteries and an isolator.

If I do the above I will straighten my bumper and reinforce the ship
out of it so it CAN withstand a hit. Or maybe crumple zone shear bolts. :)

( PS, shipping for the UCS was $146.00 ! ) :-(

Too bad you're on the wrong coast, I could have traded you welding jobs for the upgrade! That's one of the many things I'm tasked with at my job. I don't have any good welding projects for the 917 yet, but I figured you may enjoy some it the other recent projects. (Btw, we have a 460 amp plasma table, that will cut 5'x10' sheet up to 2" thick.)

Sorry for the temporary hijack. If you're ever on the east coast and find yourself needing any steel or aluminum work, look me up!

Looks good. I am now leaning towards a much taller
whip mounted on the front bumper that doubles as a
height gauge. Driving down back country roads can be
scary, lots of getting in and out to look at clearances,
if there is a tall whip up front you can gauge things a
lot easier.

Those wheel chocks look BEEFY! Hook me up! Where
did you get those? I bought some from e-trailer
and they just crush they are so weak...

They came with my HEMAT trailer I think, and one set came from tractor supply. I may have a long whip antenna. I ordered some for a client and had an extra. It's like a 100" whip or something. I can find it and measure. If you're interested PM me. I don't want to make this a classified but would like to help a fellow MV'er out.

This program is interrupted by a little history...

A little history I never would have known unless I had
paid attention to one of the elders of this forum, a man
whom has forgotten more than I will ever know about
these behemoths. . .

Some time ago I was reading a post this man penned
within this forum and he referred to these monsters as
a "Centaur". Well, I remembered that and it has festered
within me, looking for a clue I have. Tonight I found that
clue.

The MIGHTY Centaur... How cool is THat! very cOoL it is...

Low and behold this;

Centaur-M920.jpg

Now CLICK HERE to see where I got that pic from.

So if you own one of these beasts and if it is all there
you CAN call it a "20 Ton Centaur" .

History is what it is "."

That picture of the 3 axle (rear) truck is an M920.
Hopefully an M920 owner will chime in and tell us if that
frontmost-rear, liftable axle, is driven or not. I "guess" it
is not.

My M916 is the same truck less that frontmost-rear axle
and a lil shorter.

I realize "THIS THREAD IS USELESS WITHOUT PICTURES"
but "I" am really happy this second due to what I did.

I lowered the PS pedestal undr the seat ONLY 2", adding
angle iron support as required under the new Hemtt seat
I added on the PS to match the drivers side. I told you this
recently.

While the PS seat pedestal was out I cu in a sub woofer and
2 mid's and 2 tweet's to the pedestal and then painted the
pedestal a Black HAMMERED finish.

The PS pedestal is IN, the new PS Air Ride new Hemtt seat
is IN. All 4 Point seats belts are IN and today I finished
the wiring. Dudes.........I was so anal. I soldered and tinned
ALL WIRES and Wire Ends. Shrink wrapped all. I am so proud
of what I have done but I did not do it for you, I did it for ME.........

I have one little clean up wire to the ignition then I will
drop a U Tube of it all on your guys.

Stay Tuned; Same Brad Time, Same Brad Channel !
(PS, did anyone notice this thread has been viewed of 15THOUSAND Times to date?)
Must be all the quality input I get.... ;-)

I always figured this photo was an early or prototype M920 - it does not the air dryer in front of the fuel tank, or the transfer case cooler below the winch platform. It doesn't look like it has the expanded metal platforms in front of the 5th wheel, and the 5th wheel spacer, ramps, and roller are all different than most of the 916/920 examples I've seen.

Probably has the ashtrays in the doors...

Interesting, I didn't notice. Now that I critique it I believe
I see no stamping in the hood butterfly either that says
AM GENERAL and I do not think I see expanded metal
in front of the radiator.
