BACKGROUND
So I am taking my Dexter, 12K Axle, Disc Brakes apart
and glass bead blasting away rust, and replacing the grease.
The brakes have all new parts still, trailer used one time, it was
flooded by the Mississippi we suspect. I pulled the one inner hub seal
and it came out looking brand new. It does NOT say you
HAVE to replace seals every time, it says to look for cracks, cuts etc
and these look perfect. I still may buy new seals but that is not my question.
If you read Dexters instructions ( 9-15K_Complete_Service_Manual-1.pdf )
on Pg 39, #2, it says, and I quote;
"Coat the O.D. of a new seal with a bore sealant (Permatex or equivalent) prior to installation."
I can't seem to find any Permatex product called BORE SEALANT for the life of me!
Is it is typo or am I a complete idiot or what?
