Can I switch out flat wiper arms for Jhook arms on 1986 m1009

I go through wiper blades like crazy. I have the flat arm with the little nipple circle to catch the wiper blade assembly, first snow, ice what ever, the cheap plastic bends enough that the wiper blades turn upside down. I was thinking can I grab a a later years blazer wiper arm with the jhook to give my wiper blades more support? That little nub on the flat wiper arms has got to be the dumbest idea of 1986.

Yup!! Dorman makes a set that I've put on 4 so far. Fit good plus has the hook. I put 2 19 inch wiper blades on too. Amazon says they don't fit but they do. No more blades falling off! Wiper arms are 25 each and the blades 15 a pair. Good paint in them too.

Are they both the same? It looks like its angled to the left, I don't see a different one for left or right side in the listing.

Okay, They didn't fit my 86 1009. Dorman 42631 bigger than the shaft, splines don't engage

Okay went to NAPA after buying the dorman recommended here. They didn't fit on the spindle on my 86.
They can't find anything remotely matching with a jhook.
So I'm going to drive out the pin holding the old arms and replace the arms with the dormans after knocking out those pins. One problem, I can't seem to get the spring out first, tried needle nose vise grips and I just don't have the strength apparently to pull the spring enough to pop it put of the bracket so I can drive the pin out next.
Any suggestions on how to get the spring out of either the arm piece or the bracket?

Why not just get the arms for an 85-87 K30? They don't use the bayonet mounts, they use side pin. They are designed for these trucks and work great. I have a bunch of these trucks and these are a typical upgrade. They are fairly inexpensive. You can keep the squirters on the blade or remove the hose and the squirter. It just clips on.

Edit: I see Barrman already said this. He's right.

Also, use 16" blades. That's what they came with and you don't need bigger. Longer blades just put more stress on your wiper motor and you don't see more...

I thought about it, but I already bought the dormans and I'm not going to toss them or go through the whole return process. If I can't get this done then I'll go with the side pin ones. But I at least want to try, I know I can do it if I can only get the spring off, there's gotta be fairly easy way. Thanks for the suggestion.

Never mind. I got the spring out, helps when you have the arm in a vise. got the pin out too but it came out with the bushing so it's gonna be real interesting to get the pin off the bushing to reuse. I had to basically destroy the arm in the process, so it will be interesting to see if I can get the pin out of the doorman arms without destroying them in the process too.
