Has anyone changed out a starter relay on a deuce? Are there any special problems?

Nothing special just a couple of bolts where it attaches to the block,but a bit tough to get to.Helps to remove the air cleaner assy.HTH.
agreed, move the air cleaner housing

I have taken the filter can off. Do you mean the entire air cleaner housing, including the top?

Its easier that way,four bolts on the firewall and your done.

OK, the TM said to remove the 'air filter element' which is kind of confusing to me. But, then, many things are confusing to me.
But, I took off the mount and now it seems as good a time as any to get rid of the Oklahoma dust under the hood and paint the air cleaner mount and box.

I do not have my camera today. 
But, I only found a TM on removing the relay from the gasser motor. It is different from the multi-fuel.
But, for those who follow after:
1) Remove the air cleaner assembly. This is a good time to paint it.
2) The relay is on a mount bolted to the engine block. 9/16 sockets work fine, the two bolts are vertically aligned and easy to remove.
3) My relay connection on the rear, a 5/8 nut, could not easily be accessed without the relay being removed from the truck. I disconnected the wire from the starter.
4) My relay connection on the rear also had a stripped nut on the connector. It would not unscrew and could not be tightened. So, I cut it off with the Dremel tool. I think this was one major source of the problem.
5) I removed all the wires from the starter and turned the relay so that the front connection could easily be accessed and the nut removed.
6) I then cleaned and painted the relay mount. Installed it in the reverse of the removal. It helps if the rear connection is installed when remounting the bracket.
7) I connected the two wires on the front connector after remounting. Then I attached the wire from the relay to the starter, put on the other two starter wires and tightened it down.
Painted the air cleaner assembly. Reinstalled the air cleaner assembly.
Good as new now.

When I bought the second deuce in July, it had a few problems. The one that made me really crazy was the intermittent starting. Run it till it got hot and park. Shut it off. Then it kind of wanted to cool completely to start. Sometimes it would start hot if you held the starter button down and moved the on/off lever around. Sometimes it would not.
I changed the on/off switch out. No solution. I changed the starter button out. No solution. Given power the starter never failed to turn. Made me crazy. I got out the wiring diagram, discovered the starter relay hiding up under the passenger side of the engine and the more I thought about it the more I became convinced that was where the problem lay.
But, it looked to be a pain to change out. I asked a few questions on this board, they got answered quickly.
So, I obtained a NOS relay and started changing it out yesterday. Took a couple of hours, waiting on paint to dry for the most part.
I have heated the truck up twice today and it starts every time. Great feeling and a sense of accomplishment. But, I would have spent much longer on it had it not been for the help I received here. Thanks to all of you who offered advice.
