Coca-Cola 600 Press conference

The M944 took part in a Coca-Cola 600 press conference at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Last year winner Keven Hartley (sp?) and country music star Brently Gilbert was there. Got a chance to scope out our logistics for the race at the track and at Henderson Motor sports. Hendrix Motor Sports is absolutely AWESOME. It is actually a campus with multiple beautiful buildings. Can't wait for the meeting.

The accreditation for our vehicles in the press release is wrong and we are getting that corrected. I didn't get the official press release M944 shots because I was in them. promised some copies, will post.

House Keeping:
it is a night race
It is critical you bring ID's for each and every one getting passes. Bring ID neckbands $10 if bought at the track.
Food is expensive. No cooking during the race.
Consider hearing protection for the young-ins.
Bivouac at Henderson Motorsports the night before and the night of the race.
We will all convoy in in order 1.9 mile easy drive. You can leave any time
We wanted to get passes ahead of time. Because positive ID's are required we will have to stop the convoy at the Pass booth and individually pick up passed. We will collect the overhead cost fee at that time.The fee should be around $15.00 or $20.00. If any.

It looks like we will be using one of the back up vehicle. Ken will publish the details.

I will have the wrecker truck there but probably won't show up until Sunday morning (not going to camp with yall Saturday night, as I am only about an hour away). I have some chains/straps, but to make things quick/easy it might work best if you have the straps with you so we have the proper lengths. Once a specific time is set for us to all head to the track, I will plan to show up an hour or so before that.

Butch, if I have some people that wanted to come later is that OK, or will they all HAVE to ride in with me in the trucks (say if they wanted to show up at 1-2pm instead of 9-10am)

We very much need to all pull to the track together with everybody in the party, Queuing up at Henderson Motorsports and convoying into the track. Im bringing it on my small landscape trailer so I drive right off. Might need to put in something to get it back to my trailer at Hendricks after the event unless it will be ok to drive back and in that case I would probebly need an escort so I dont get squashed by someone who thinks there street car is a nascar after the race.

We need to be at the credential office at 10:30. our staging area is less than a mile from that but traveling the most busiest roads. So you absolutely positively HAVE to be at the staging area by 9:00 am. Late comers will cause a tremendous amount of grief.



Bivouac/staging area.

OK picture this Hundreds of thousands of people pack like sardines. Pandemonium, Barely room to walk between the RV's and tents. Long lines for the facilities Noise, exhaust, Kids screaming and crying, traffic constant hub-bub all night. Get the picture?



Steel-Soldiers: Private 4 acre sandy lot. closed off one block from the main drag. Close to all the activities and restaurants. Walking distance from the Hendrix complex. Private Portia-Poti, About a mile from the track. Perfect for setting up a RV or tent, lawn chairs grilling and partying. Perfect for people not actually going into the track to visit and see us off.



The bivouac area is not on the Hendrix Motor sport complex as assumed. They are building a muti dealer "Auto-mall" mega complex just off Brutton Smith Blvd opposite the Honda Dealer. It is still under construction and closed to the public. Go to above link for details. The map furnished with the schedule is not exactly correct. Pick up directions to the Credential office from the intersection of HWY 29 and Morehead.



We will not convoy per-Se from the the staging area to the Credential office. We will follow normal independent driving courtesies and rules and re arrange at the credential office. Just try not to pass anybody in the group to stay in order. Re arrange yourself at the Credential booth if you do.
