Cleaning the old ones and fixing them takes about an hour. I have a set in my M1009 for 8 years now. Still smooth and no felt bunching in the bottom. The key is to keep the sash clean and lubed. I will take pictures as I assemble this gate. The handle looks pretty good. Chrome handles naturally do not like to be painted. I used a 1/2 drive extension to get the guide track straight and a box wrench to push the trim lok in the guide and seat it all the way. i used an automotive adhesion body caulk. Works great. At a fraction of the cost and better results. Thanks for looking.

Yeah, those aftermarket ones are junk. I could never get the window right in my old one using that stuff. You're really rolling along on that thing!

Rain is slowing me down. I have a shop full of M1008 and M1009 and no room to work inside. But the weekend looks promising. Got to get rolling have a new owner that is excited for his truck. I understand but can't rush and cut corners. Only done right is right. Not fast at all. And not slow either. But never half fast. Have a great day. 1 more week and we will be wheeling at Rausch Creek. terminus still needs an LOF. October 21, Rausch Creek. Thank you for looking. More to come later.

The intention and effort was there and plenty of ambition. But the rain falling and the dampness where to much to handle. the Lazy Boy just looked like the place to be. Tomorrow is another day. I can not do excellent work out in the rain. Partly sunny is tomorrows forecast.

Great...now I see this.
Mine were shot so I blasted and painted the tracks but couldn't find the replacement felt. Only a big roll for $80.
Scoured our considerable salvage yards to no avail. (I did find a set of torsion springs, though.)
I could only find one side NOS for $86, So I sprung for A set from LMC($$$)

DSCF3762.jpgThis is where I started this AM. With a shell of a gate mounted and adjusted. DSCF3765.jpgDSCF3766.jpgDSCF3767.jpgInside of gate after installing the tracks I made with the TrimLoc. DSCF3768.jpgDSCF3769.jpgDSCF3770.jpgDSCF3771.jpgDSCF3772.jpgGate is all installed and window assembly is operational. Used gate cables and cable guide springs.

From the short bed Mule M1009 pick-up to the stock M1009. Thanks for looking. I hope it helped some of you. I am ready to let go of this CUCV. I think some one else deserves to have it and enjoy it as much as I did. Have a great day.

But never forgotten. Here are some pictures of it in the past. I hope it never regresses backwards again. I will keep it out of the hands of the PANG. I know the new owner will appreciate the time and effort I spent on keeping it as stock as possible. Other then a few added lights everything is as was from new.

Yep, I'm the proud new owner of the Mule. It's nice to have an M1009 again! I can't thank cucvrus enough for all of the quality work he did to this truck. I wouldn't hesitate to take it anywhere. I definitely appreciate all of the time and know-how that went into the preservation of this truck and I'll do my best to take care of it. Thank you!

As I like to call it the Mule. It was returned to M1009 OEM specs and sold. My Mule M1009 cash was rolled over into a much needed tractor. Happy Holidays. Be Safe.

I received an email asking about my M1009 Mule build. Someone couldn't find it and wanted to do something similar. When I get done with my current build I am taking an M1009 to a local body shop and having them cut the entire roof from it. I have all the parts from a 1974 K5 Blazer that was equipped with the full convertible top. I am excited to get started on this after my Red Riding Hood build. And I actually have the original hood from Red Riding Hood on the second floor of my barn. So if you want to do the Mule M1009 it can be done and is a reversible modification. Take Care. Good Luck. Summers a coming. Be Safe.
