CUCV Surveillance Truck

Here are some pictures of my M1028 with shelter that I turned into a surveillance truck. I still have the Toughbook and communications to install. I have two weeks off for Christmas, so I plan to finish installing the trucks AC. I just have the under hood stuff to finish, and the head liner with speakers and stereo. If I have the time, I will start cutting out the panels to hold the comm equipment.

Sure is, we were out with it this weekend. All was good until the generator ran out of fuel in the middle of the night....The shelter turned into an icebox box in the span of an hour and a half. Won't make that mistake again.

Is the plan to put that stuff in the "top left" corner? seems like it's not very space efficient right now...

Nice look otherwise.

Besides the fact that you've now blown your cover to 50K SS members, I do like the look.
Some camo netting would be a nice addition.

I'm curious, what does one surveil in the desert?

The solid panel to the left rear of the picture is where most of the radios will go. Right below that will be a bank charger of radios and a telescoping mount for the Toughbook. I am also looking for an acft crew seat for the operator. I have a bunk cushing for the bunk being made as well. Tough sleeping on the piece of wood, but beats sleeping on the floor.

It is parked below grade and the tower extends 30 feet above. I do have a several nets that can conceal the truck completely.

I'm admiring that mast. Does it park for travel by rotating toward the rear? I think I see a resting place for it at the top rear corner of the shelter. How much does it stick up above the shelter, deployed, and stowed?

thanks, great setup!

The mast does rotate down and is flush with the rear. The mast undeployed sits about 5 feet above the box and will raise 30 feet.

I was serious. Any chance you'll explain what you surveil?

I've never been to a desert before.
