:?:I have a M818 and I noticed a small leak at the injector pump. It looks to be coming from the shaft area but the plate around the shaft is riveted on. It drips about once every 5 seconds. Is this something to worry about? Is it a tough fix? A friend said they make a seal conditioner for diesel that maybe a temp fix?:?::?:

Depends on how old the pump is...when the last time it was gone through. When low sulfer fuel came about, there was a rash of fuel leaks at the throttle shaft...like you have. When ULSD came about, a few more leaks surfaced, but not a whole bunch of them. If the truck has been sitting a while, the o-ring could just need to be re lubed by use. If not, it will need replaced. Not a big deal, no adjustments will be chnged if you do it yourself. Only needs a front cover gasket, a new tamper proof bolt...it there is one, and an o-ring.

Ditto what Will said.
For seal conditioner, you can put a can of brake fluid in the fuel tank.
an old trick , but it works most of the time.
Also , now you know what to do with that can of D.O.T 3 that has been open for 10 years.
As an aside, these engines will burn most any thing, as long as it it clean and lubes the pump.
I have been using 10 w motor oil (Turbine oil)and gasoline mix for a few years now, to no ill effect.
