I was able to get back to some work on her today after a crazy week. Changed the oil and filters. The oil came out at 1st super thick and black. But then again who knows how old that oil was. So now she has fresh oil and filters with no oil leaks now. Had her running for about 15 mins or so. Started right up and ran like a champ. You would think she was a daily driver. Lol.

Next up brakes and greasing up all of the **** grease points.

I'm hoping to get her to move on her own power by the end of the month.

It's a LD-465.
I'm guessing its probably the stock motor since I've not found any signs of it going to depot

Am I the only one seeing these videos and thinking the truck is right hand drive? I know it has to be an optical illusion but it's still weird.
Dead, in the video, not only does it have right hand drive, but it has the exhaust on the L/H side. That's the reason I asked what engine you were running. All LD/LDT/LDS engines have the exhaust on the R/H side. Dead you sure had me scratching my head.....Camera Check.:confused:

It's all the normal setup. L/H driver side and exhaust on the right. And I think not having a cab on kinda throws it off too
I dont know when I set up the camera to record the start up it flipped it like it did. Confused me as well when I posted it

I think the non turbos did. I've seen a few other m36s and they have a turbo with the stack. But in could be wrong. I really dont know anything about the history of this truck but theres alot of things I've found that makes me wonder how much of the truck is "stock"
For being a Marine truck she seems to be in really good shape lol

USMC got rid of all the Deuces after the Vietnam experience and went strictly with 5 ton's to simplify maintenance and supply operations. So, the M-36 did not stay in USMC hands very long before it was traded in to the Army for a 20 foot bed 5 ton. That is the story on my M-36 (which had the fording system kit installed, but never maintained) when I got it.

Third Battalion keep Deuces until after the 1980's .

Well kinda figure that the brakes were gonna be just that simple. Went to start taking off the flexible brake lines and they were rusted on bad. So instead of cleaning out the lines it's looking like she's gonna brand new brake lines. Probably should look at replacing all the hardware for the brakes while I'm at and have nice and new braking system.

Reference post 121: there are over 40 grease points on an M36, 4 on the handbrake alone. Do you have as lubrication order for this ? Some of them are hard to find if you don't now where they live. Grease is cheap, parts cost money: be guided accordingly.

Yes I have the lube order for it and I've read it a few time now. And got alot of grease tube since I'm sure things are pretty dry by now on her.

I gotta give Big Mike's Motor pool huge shout out. I reached out to him to see if he could help me out with a data plate. And he came through and it looks amazing. Alot better then the 1st replacement one I got awhile back.

And now the latest updates. I'm going to be rebuilding my entire brake lines due to frozen fittings. A few of the Tees were saved but the fittings that are on the front axle that the soft lines connect to the hard lines aren't gonna come apart. Does anyone know what that fitting is called? 20190413_131452.jpg

Thanks on that info. I havent really done too much with that TM I have it downloaded with all my others just havent done much more then browse through it.

Ok so after looking through that TM something doesn't make sense with what I'm seeing on there and what's on my truck and then what I can find parts wise.
The TM shows a single hose that goes from the axle to the wheel, I have found a hose that does from eastern. But my truck has a short soft hose from the axle to the knuckle and hard line from the knuckle to the wheel cylinder. Or is this the way it done in the earlier years?

I'll add pictures when I get home.

My M35A1 has hose from axle hard line at knuckle to the wheel cylinder with a banjo bolt.
Could have maybe been put that way after rebuild in 81.

Heres what I have. I already cut the hard lines off to try and match that soft and that's when I found that something was off.
