Well guys and gals,

Once again it is that time of year to start planning for Parade season.

This is the 30th year for the Armed Forces day and Shriner's Parade on May 9th, 2014. This is Mother's Day Weekend.

We have had a great showing each time we have participated over the last 6 years and we need the tradition to continue.

Over 2 miles long..... and the biggest draw is all the kids lining the streets for the bags and bags of candy to be thrown.

Let me know who can attend so I can plan for parking space

Previous years events:

I can't make it this year, but the Blue Star moms want a ride. Scorpion6 said he can accomodate them again like he did for Norman veterans day parade. Please make sure you guys take care of the ladies!

I'm in! My first MV ever will be arriving in two days, an M925. When my wife asked what I was going to do with such a big truck, I replied I dunno parades and such. And here's my first chance! Being that it's mothers day weekend, maybe my "gift" to her could be to ride along with us.

Being a newb I have a few questions, I know I'll need to provide my own candy and some American flags, but what about passengers, are they allowed to ride in the back and toss candy? For that matter does anyone know if it's legal for me to transport passengers in the troop seats in back?

I'm looking forward to meeting you guys (and gals)!

This is one of the few events that does allow candy to be thrown from the vehicles. There are kids (big and small) along the entire two mile route. Almost every one of them has a candy sack waiting to be filled. The best purchase is the large generic bags of candy from Wally world. You can get by with one but with multiple throwers you may want more.

All the parades that are in our area do allow passengers in the cargo bed. Just make sure you have plenty of water/food as the wait time and drive time will take a toll. There are restroom facilities at the meeting point.

Looking forward to meeting you.

And yes flags a decorations are required equipment ;-)

The group is registered. Up to 12 trucks.

If you want to be a lone wolf you can sign up on your own. However that will put you at the end of the the parade and not the beginning. ;-)

The Blue Star Moms are ready to go, they are going to have some children, grand children with them. I have given them the meet point and time. They may have a few, but not sure how many. I told them we would have the trucks to accomodate. So we are ready.

armed forces day

Glad to hear you can make it, looking forward to seeing you guys again. I have a loading ramp built to make access to the truck easier for the moms.
