I have my Technician license - I'm not really knowledgeable about it though, hardly even get on the air. I got certified last August. There was a guy there last year (or maybe the year before) that had a bunch of military radio equipment displayed. I talked to him for a little while - he was very a knowledgeable ham. Maybe he will be there this year. I also have a couple of GMRS frequencies programmed in my HTs - although it is not legal to use Ham radios for GMRS commo because of the power limitations.

I think you can use it on GMRS, up to 5 watts. FRS is restricted to 1/2 watt technically.

You're right - I was thinking that GMRS was limited to 1w, but it IS 5w. The only thing is that you have to possess a GMRS license to use those frequencies with a GMRS radio - legally). https://www.fcc.gov/general/general-mobile-radio-service-gmrs.
Here's a thread about the very subject we are talking about: http://www.rvnetwork.com/index.php?showtopic=111143 . Someone says that if you get caught using GMRS frequencies on a ham radio you are in danger of losing your ham license (I'm not saying that's correct or not - I don't know). I guess that's good to have the frequencies programmed and only use them in case of an emergency - not worth losing my license over though.

Hey I got a question I have never been to this or really posted here before but I'm planning on coming Friday and Saturday with my M35a2. I was wondering how much does it cost to get in. And a little bit more info on the trail ride and the convoy to the bbq

Trail ride is something new, I don't know anything more about it than what was posted here. The BBQ convoy was to wheelspinner ' s house. Speeds was kept down to 45mph so everyone stayed together. We even had a police escort thru Denton. Blake makes the BBQ and it's awesome. Alot of us went out to eat too a diner one night.

The place is wooded, so it's fairly cool if it's nice and sunny. We had a fire one night. Great time hanging out with everyone. I can't remember if there was a charge to get in, or how much it was to camp.
