Deuce Coolant Hemorrhage (LEAK)

Drove deuce to a flag raising Saturday morning and once I got it parked out comes the water. So looks like lower radiator hose has a hole in it., I got it home before all the water ran out. I think I'll change out all the hoses on it. Any members suggestions on source.. I see some replacement numbers in the parts swap TMs. for the NAPA hoses. I think I should change the little shorts one too. Thanks for input on this.

Glad you made it home before you ran out of water.

When my deuce still had the multifuel engine I purchased new radiator hoses from Erik's military surplus. Now that I have the Cummins 5.9L I went with custom silicone.

Yes I agree. Replace the little short hoses that go from the water pump to oil cooler 2, & water pump to thermostat housing 1. They can get overlooked, but they can go bad and leak just like the larger hoses.

As mentioned, change them all for peace of mind. If one is dodgy then the rest may be suspect.

I had to change mine the other day. I used a gates hose. The OEM hose had no reinforcement cords in it. I could peel it back like a curly fry.

I changed out the belts too. They looked like new from the top, but when I took them off.

ill take it apart this week and get some new hoses. we had a plaque dedication at same spot at 10.00 so i came back with 925a2for that.

I bought all of them at Napa. They're all standard straight hoses other than the lower. I trimmed a little off the lower and it fit fine. The Napa # is in the deuce civvy cross reference spreadsheet that's stickied at the top of this forum.

I would do ALL the hoses. Every single one. Do it all at once. If one failed, they'll all fail soon.

Clean any corrosion off the pipes or thermostat housing.

I also replaced all my hoses at the same time. I went with all silicone hoses except for the radiator hoses which I bought at "Eriks" . I still might replace the radiator hoses with some nice custom silicone hoses like Hank did. Silicone lasts so long I'll be dead and buried before they go bad.
