TCI Powder Coatings, my powder guy did a color search and got me a 5 lb sample box. Had plenty for everything and some left over.

Got my lights in last night and painted them this morning before work. Wiped everything down with thinner and shot them with plastic primer and Rustoleum camo paint.

The lights are those "BAJA" lights you see all the time at Wal*Mart.

I chose these because of their size, the included covers, and the "stone guard" look, also because of the price.

I have another set installed as reverse lights and they have worked out really well, they have pretty rugged housings and mounting hardware and the 55w H3 bulbs don't seem to mind being run on 24v in series.

I plan on replacing the 55w bulbs on the rack with some 100w eventually, as long as the housings can take the heat.

I have 6 70 watt 24 volt H3 bulbs I bought for the 185 that I ended up not using if you're interested.

Ordered my RivNuts from Fastenal today, don't have an installation tool but I'm going to make one like this.

They're used for normally "blind" areas where a person can not get a nut onto the back side of a piece. They do work great! Little pricey, but do what they are suppose to do.

I looked into that method, it works but the RivNut will spin at first as it begins to mushroom and can cause improper or cockeyed clamping. As noted they are pricey and I would rather get each one right the first time. Besides, it won't cost me a cent to build the tool.

Yes I know. I have two tools. One like a hand rivet gun and the other like bolt cutter. I have use rivet nuts for 30 years. I have learned that drill hole. Check fit. Paint hole. Let dry. Install nut.

Well my RivNuts finally arrived today, hopefully will be completing the build in the next couple weeks.

Here is the tool I built, it works by spinning the bolt with a ratchet.

It works really well and the nuts I bought are nearly flush when fully expanded.

No egg painting today, and Easter activities with the Family tomorrow so maybe next weekend.

You are almost as bad as I am. I have so may half started projects that I have to finish some cause I am out of room to store parts. My plan is a light bar foward of windshield so I can mount the top of the mirror bracket to it. I have lights just not led so I may go your route and mount the lights I have in other locations.
