I remember a guy in northwest Mississippi back in the late 70's that had a 72/73 ford bronco with paddles welded to the wheels. The paddles were cut to match the radius of the wheels. I saw it slogging through mud that was headlight deep once and doing it well. I'm not sure of the power plant, but I think it was a 460. It wasn't stock for sure.
