ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

Here is a spreadsheet (a photo of one) showing the various crawl ratios/mph for 3.90, 3.07, EcoHubs or not. I agree the 3.90's are best with what we currently have and 4.5's with EcoHubs would be cruising 63 at 1,600 rpm in seventh. That would be the sweet spot—

I can see that. If I redid the chart for the shift points it would illustrate your point better.

I will be watching your experience with the lockers when you start that thread. I haven't noticed you or @Keith Knight complaining about traction on adventures, is it a bigger issue than I think?

On my last 20,000 miles on every type of terrain and trail I have been thankful that I have a rear locker for the added traction and besides the occasional clunk I have not had any problems or issues.

can you run this also with same parameters but different tire heights? OEM (45"ish), 14R20's (48"ish), and 16R20 (53ish)... and for shitz and grins... maybe 12r20 (40ish).. might be smart to lower center of gravity on and off road for those building expedition rigs.... ??

You want to see the same sheet with variable tire height: 53", 48", 45", 40"

I'll certainly update once installed. I get stuck in 12" of snow routinely trying to get into the barn. It's not a compliant. Open diffs don't do snow. Should be fine with the lockers.

Getting smart on EcoHub installation (reading directions, watching a few YT videos on it, etc...) since it is on deck as next project.

Yes that’s to clean the rust and years of RTV out of the holes. They must be clean all the way to the bottom of the threads.
The install is easier than it seems…. Make sure to put the adapter plates on correct. The smaller disc goes into the hub to help center it. Call with any questions.

As I contemplating eco-hubs. My truck is a 2003, 3126 tuned to 330hp with 3.07 gears, weighing 27,600lbs. One of my favorite aspects is the exhaust brake especially going down step 10% grades, narrow 2 lane roads with switch backs every few hundred feet, with no shoulders for miles. Is that I can keep my speed down to 15-20mph without ever touching the service brakes. Any faster and things get a little sketchy. Between 10-15 is when the exhaust brake disengages, I'm guessing second gear and I have to use the service brakes.

With Eco-hubs installed in the same scenario as above at approximately what speed can I expect the exhaust brakes to stop working with 3.07 gears and 3.90 gears?

I'll take a video of coming to a stop in my truck. Yes the exhaust brake disengages when you hit 2nd gear because the converter unlocks so the exhaust brake has no effect. But it still works normally and down to about 15-20 mph. You get used to it quickly and it's a non issue. Coming down steep grades it works great and just like a normal civilian truck or bus with "normal" gearing. The slightly higher disengagement speed really isn't an issue and the trade off for +3 mpg and all the other benefits are so worth it that no one yet has cared enough to go back.
