Thanks for all the great info shared here.

I’m considering an Airbeam 20x21 or one of the Base-X tents (up to the 305) for family camping, hauled with an M1102 trailer. My plan would be to set up solo (small assistance from wife), taking my time to lay everything out and do a practice run to get it right. I’m pretty resourceful, stubborn, and in good shape.

How realistic is it to set up and tear down an Airbeam2021 or Base-X 305 solo? For context, most of my Army experience was with pole tents, DRASH, and larger Airbeams.

Thanks!

I would say for a family where you are the only fully capable adult for setup, then the 305 is a bit large (18x25'). One of my buddies has a 303 for his family and it's usually a 3-4 person setup to make it easy, but 2 people can do it if necessary, and I wouldn't really want to do it by myself, especially these days (and this coming from a guy that used to set up DRASH 3 XB by myself while I was in the Army.)

Also not sure how big your family is, but you might consider either the 203 (14x15') or 303 (18x15') tent instead. Still enough span to set up cots across from each other, but not as long of tents nor so many doors to deal with.
