Fuel Issues - No Start

There is a 4th bolt between the IP and the motor block, not easy to see at all!

If I weren't out of town I could get a pic posted. Look at the face of your new IP to try and find it.

I took off the fourth bolt too - for fun yesterday and it didn't do anything either. Thats when I saw another fuel line still attached that went somewhere. I'll unhook or cut that this weekend sometime and see if the pump comes out.

I'm positive the new pump only has 3 bolts holding the flange on.

I just looked at the pic of your IP, there is a mounting flange you'll have to transfer over to it. Wish I were home to get you some pics.

Ive been pissing away over two weeks waiting on the gasket that seals the IP to the rear of the block. Ive wasted about $50 and I now have FOUR of the gaskets for the front cover over the IP gear but not the gasket I need!!!! AAAAUGH!!!!!!!

1. Who has that gasket? Ive come too far to just slap some silicone on it and hope for the best.

2. Got the hub off the shaft of the old IP and have swapped it over to the new one. It has no keyway so I guess the tension of the large center nut will hold it in place? I just line up the mark on he new IP and use the front gear to find the right timing for the hub?

Found the IP Mounting Flange gasket through Oshkosh - so I got two! An extra just in case.

Also picked up the valve cover gaskets so I can make extra sure everything is lined up.

Now, if the radiator shop will finish fixing my radiator!

Ok back at this. I have everything on the IP mounted - except for the front timing gear. I'm going to pull the valve cover tonight to make sure its right.

UNFORTUNATELY NOW when I turn the power on the fuel pump roars but no fuel. Ive opened the bleed to check this and I'm sure its not pumping fuel.

I'm guessing the pump went bad while performing the longest repair ever?

Seems strange that its roaring. Maybe this thing needs primed or something since I disconnected all the fuel lines at the IP and let them go dry? I don't know.

Roaring!? Centrifugal pump usually very quite. But You are correct, no matter whatever it is it has to give the main pump suction pressure 3 to 7 psig.
New replacement pump, 50 bucks; proper hose 9 bucks.

If its roaring, are you sure there is enough fuel in the tank? Since you'll have to pull the pump to swap it out, id pull it and see if the hose is bad or if the plates fell off the bottom. It might not need replaced.

oops, I never heard one run in an almost empty fuel tank, but now can understand "roar"

I'll put the offer out again - HELP!!! Someone in the Houston area help me start my truck! If you have a shop, I'll even have it moved there.

I suck at this and have broken more stuff than Ive fixed. Ive spent over a thousand bucks and seems like its worse than before I started.

OK. Got the truck started! Should be driving in no time - need to fix a bad U joint on the PTO and solder up a couple cracks in the radiator.

Not sure what to say except I was either working on other projects or waiting on parts.

I spent almost every free minute through April getting my race car ready for open road rally in Mexico.

Then, I found out my IP was finished and had to buy one of those - they are super expensive and hard to find!

Turned out my most recent problems were that a few of my injector hard lines were leaking.

I PROMISE to quit messing around and get the thing driving soon.

Look through the oil fill cap,when the #2 intake valve is open and the timing mark on the harmonic balance lined up that's compression stroke tdc.

Believe it was #2 exhaust down not intake down Ray.
