The electrician worked a bit over two hours to do the installation. Mostly dealing with the half frozen ground. Thought the interlock switch was interesting. It is the gray box on the post. Slip the cover open and the black handle is what you pull out and reverse to allow current to flow. Ran the entire house without any noticeable change in the engine noise. Household furnace was running, assorted lights in the house, Reznor shop heater running, shop lights, and the three phase rotary converter on and supplying 3 phase power to the mill, lathe, etc which were on as well.

I am a little confused on the interlock device. Does your system disconnect from the utility power grid with the disconnect box installed outside (pictured) or is there a interlock / transfer switch installed on your main panel inside?

Sorry for the delay. I don't get on here nearly often enough.
1. Paid $1,000 and some change at the auction. That was buyer's fee, tax, etc if I remember right.
2. The interlock on the pole is between the generator and the house panel. Just to isolate the generator. Makes it simple to do a monthly test run and plug in a couple heat guns to load it. Not always in the mood to reset all the clocks in the house :).
3. The electrician installed a interlock on the main house panel to isolate house and generator from back feeding into the public utility.
4. Unit is grounded and neutral disconnected at frame per spedmon's guidance.
Took forever to find a good electrical contractor that was comfortable wiring a military genset to the house. The contractor came highly recommended by the local generator shop. The shop guaranteed in writing that everything would be per code and 1 year warranty on the work.
