Grooved piston top problem.

Four of the six LDT-465 pistons have various sized grooves at the
lip of their cups. Anyone have an idea the cause of this? Is it
fixable or must piston be replaced? Seems injectors' spray is not
getting into cups properly. Is there a way to correct this?

Any ideas where I can get new pistons if needed?

Engine only has about 22,000 miles.

Put new tested injectors in it and run it
I see no problem
I may be overruled in following posts but it 'tiss what I would do.
I do not see a problem, but I old and haven't got a clue/

I always thought that it was part of the sphyrical chamber on top of piston to get the fuel mixture spinning correctly, to be a true multifuel. But I'm wrong a lot.

That cut in the edge of the cup is supposed to be there, the injector sprays into that groove which directs the fuel spray into the piston cup in a swirling motion. If you have no groove and your piston looks like the on I pulled out if my engine, you've got issues. Snapchat-95829440.jpg

Just throwing this idea out there. Is there a difference in the size of the groves between LDT and LDS pistons. If my memory serves me, the LDT injector is 2 holes the LDS injector is 1 hole.2cents

The early LDS injectors were 1 hole, later on they were switched to two hole. The 1 hole was the earlier design for engine. As for piston grooves I don't know, the pistons pictured from my truck are LDS pistons, take that for what it's worth
