Heater Blower Motor Resistor Repair and Replace

You could just source the low speed side from 12V and eliminate the failure prone resistor. If you are going to reinstall a resistor, I would use one of a higher wattage rating than what was specified. These burn-outs seem to be more prevalent than expected. Be sure the confirm the amp draw of your blower motor to confirm system integrity regardless.

That is what I did. I just got power from my dedicated 12 volt system (separate batteries and alternator for my 12 volt system). I don't have to worry about draining one battery with that system. I still would rather have a 100 watt resistor instead of getting power from my 12 volt system, but it works and I don't have to worry about a resistor going bad.
