Yeah - Chris's was warped so much I couldn't deck it with my normal manual method. Too much material had to be removed. And it's steel which takes FOREVER by hand with glass.
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
Thanks for the tips. It’s always fun going to CAT with our motor serial number and they give you that look like we are stupid. The turbo does have to come off. And the alternator.
The cooler, spacer plate, and filter housing/cover has three gaskets (two are duplicates) and four o-rings. No sealant has to be used if you get the gaskets from CAT. Also CAT will not be able to find the three additional o-rings on the two-piece filter housing (if equipped) unless you have them lookup the part number on it. The new housing is single piece and the breakdown doesn't show them.
What's your engine serial number? I can lookup the part numbers on SIS.Striking out here. I want to be sure I have all the correct parts. Is there an exploded view of all the parts somewhere? I don't want to open it all up then order parts. Need to have them on hand for quick reassembly.
CAT Service Information System. You have to have a CAT dealer/corporate login to use it.SN# 6PZ02452
What's SIS?
It looks like the spacer is still attached to the cooler? Isn't there a gasket between the cooler and spacer?Oil cooler post decking. He said it was >+030" out. The new Cat gasket is thicker than the original. I'll post a pic later.
