That is wicked cool! I'm in the planning stages of something similar. Purist or not, I think its great to see someones talent, effort, and imagination breath life back into something.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I was realy expecting to get my a** handed to me by the purist.
I'll get out this weekend and get some video of it.
I'd love to get it to Aberdeen or some other MV shows. My only concern would be outrunning the lynch mob.

I am only about 25 miles from you and would love to see it in person someday. You would not have happened to buy the originals from a place in Westhampton did you? They were in really rough shape. If you can't save and restore them then at least make something neat out of it which you have done in spades!!!!

Yo Rick.
No I didn't get them from westhampton area. Had the truck for some time now. But just recently converted it.
Pembertons rite down the road. I'm not aware of any shows or cruse nites around this time of year. But if I take it anyware I'll let u know. Well take it for a ride.

WOW! THAT is the military version of an old-school RAT ROD. I hope you take it to some car shows and use it in 4th July and Vet's Day parade; total eye=-grabber. Nice work!

The vet's parade may be pushing it. The last thing a vet wants to see at a remembrance is a hot rodded vehicle that he may have flashbacks from. Keep the parade vehicles in stock form. Don't get me wrong, I love that truck, I am not crazy about bobbers but I am also a Vietnam vet and I know what I don't want to see in a military themed parade.

You should bring that to the national MVPA convention in 2014! We would love to have it on display (as well as your crew-cab!) It will be in Louisville, KY this time, and we hope to appeal to the all different areas of military vehicles, including modified! hope to see it in person, it looks AWESOME!

Jersey I am kind of a prude for keeping things original but I have to admit this machine rocks, the level of work you put into this is even hard for me to fathom and I have done a bit of it, NICE job and that is one very impressive piece of equipment, congratulations!

There has never been a war where MVs we're not modified for special purpose application.
I would flip out if I saw that vehicle in a parade. It would be a highlife of my day, but, I would also like to see original equipment too, which I am sure would be there,
And when I left the parade, I sure as heck wouldn't be talking about, and all excited about, that deuce and half that was so common place in the war I served in.
Trust me. It would be welcome by most. It's just a darn cool machine.
Hey! Even an ole Model A would be welcome in a Veterans Parade.

As JD points out, even the MVPA would enjoy such a piece of art in these changing times. Cool beans.

Angus, you may be right, I am tired and grumpy. The parades around my area just have not been much to look at anymore and that just might spice it up. Forget I even mentioned it.

Just remember who started the hot rods in the first place, it was GI's coming back from the war and messing around with there vehicles. My father fought in WWII , and he loved to modify stuff, so did my uncles. I still remember that Indian Chief my father owned, and that Hudson truck he dropped a Ford V-8 in.

That is one awesome MV Rat Rod!!
I have dreamed of something similiar in the carcass of my rig in which the cab is in the weeds, yet the axles (bobbed) are in their proper location not ahead of the grill. Big 53 inch 1600 tires so the tops sit above the hood, and have the cab chopped 4 inches minimum or 6 even.
Figured people would be raising the dead with their protests!!
It is again great to see someone with a vision who isn't scared to go for it!

How much did you chop the top?
Did you channel the body?
How deep is the drop in the fram for the cab?
How short is the total vehicle length.
My tape measure says it is 3 5/8's inches long in length.

Cant tell you guys how much i appreciate all the kind words.
Sorry i have not responded lately, Im kind of in the middle of obsessing on this winters project.

To answer a few questions;
The top is chopped 8''. And i removed the arch over the windshield, to square it up.
Had to narrow the cab, hood and grill to. Like 8'' at rear of cab up to 14'' at grill. to gain clearance for the tires.

Body was channeled 4'' to fit over the frame. Also had to make whole new firewall, floor and trans-tunnel.
