steve6x6x6 could you help me, I am a wee bit ignorant regarding axles on these truck. Why not just pick up a pair of axletech 4000 and bolt them in?
Having said that, locker in the rear and hubs.....yaaaaa!
Everyone with big HP have found out that the axletech 3000 and 4000 are junk. Broken sun gears, broken axle shafts.

Oh,ok.
I am not on FB so how can I get ahold of you and get pricing ?
I wonder about the center sections?
Can they be swapped into the FMTV axle housings?
I really like the idea of selectable lockers!
And hubs!

I like this idea I would really rather have a selectable locker like an air locker for my truck one could have max traction on all 4 axles but still have good manners with it unlocked say when cornering on ice

I am curious if you only used one Detroit on a 6x6 rear axle how it would behave. It seams like when not in mode, it would behave like an unlocked truck unless you had really good traction and you were getting on the throttle. Otherwise, one of your intermediate axle tires would probably allow the diff to not bind up and lock the rear automatically. That is at least my uneducated theory. Thoughts?

I have a selectable locker in my daily driver..... that would be my preference too, but I doubt they will ever be made for lmtv. There just aren't enough in the public sector imho.

I just purchased the locker from Steve6x6x6 and installed it (in the rear axle) along with the gear change to the 3.07 ring and pinion. I plan to do a write up soon. But after the install I took it for a test drive and absolutely love the gear change it drives completely different my take is that it drives more like a standard truck now. It also lowered the in cab noise level considerable. Imagine driving your LMTV with the pedal to the floor at 58mph and how load it is now drive it at 45mph the in cab noise is very manageable, well thats what it sounds like a 60mph now, less engine noise, less gear noise all adds up. As an avid Jeep rock crawler for 20 years I've used and installed about every type of locker and prefer the selectable lockers, I'm currently running ARB air lockers front and rear in the jeep and love them. Unfortunately thats not an option for us. Funny part is that after I was done test driving it I was so excited about how it drives I didn't even notice the rear locker, primarily because it didn't make any noise or cause it to drive any different. The second test drive for the locker went great, before a small 1 foot obstacle at a slow speed under one tire would cause cause it to stop and spin a tire or two. Now that is clearly not a problem and will now go through areas that I was scared to even consider going through because of the off camber situations that would cause it it to get stuck. the locker is a must do for any one planning to go off roading by them self.

Thank You

With my recent reflash of the cat ecm that took my HP from 275 to 330 I didn't notice any decrease in power except from the seat of your pants, it takes off much quicker and up to speed much quicker.
I bought a complete front and rear axle from steve to get the gears, bonus all the other spare parts. But his shop is only 30 miles from me.
google steve6x6x6 differential engineering and it has his info.

What year is your M1078? I went to the CAT dealer with my 1994 M1079 and they said they could not flash mine, that I was all mechanical, no computer
