I think it is important for members to tell stories of GL problems. The main purpose of this forum is to share information for learning purposes INCLUDING warning potential buyers of the dangers involved in dealing with GL.
Yes it is a lot of complaining, but people can learn a lot and save themselves a lot of wasted time and money by reading others' testimony. We have all learned something the hard way through GL, and many of us newcomers can't imagine that there is a business in this country that manages to stay in business with such poor customer service, restrictions and ludicrous procedures.
So Please, please continue to share your GL successes and woes so that everyone can benefit. Do not be bullied by members calling you names and remember that GL is an advertiser on this site.
My advice (what brought me to this thread) is due to a recent bad recovery and customer service experience.
1. When bidding at Letterkenny, make sure you have an open schedule, because loadout times are LIMITED. I believe they only do 4 days a week and 4 hours a day. No early morning, no late afternoon. Again, hard to imagine a company that remains in business 16 hours of customer service operation per week.
2. When recovering at Letterkenny, do not pull your car anywhere near the gate. Park more than 100 feet away, walk to the gate and stand at attention until the DRMO secretary acknowledges you (up to 15 min). She is a cold-hearted tatooed tough b**** with a chip on her shoulder and you should only respond with yes ma'am and no ma'am or you will get reamed.
3. If you have a customer service issue, don't bother. GL headquarters doesn't care whether you are happy or not. They won't let you talk to a supervisor, won't respond to emails, and won't do anything but take your money and not release your property. I know SOME of it is out of their hands, but they can do more to make things easier.
That said, Matt at Letterkenny (the GL lot attendant) is a nice guy and very helpful.
