Humvee shock absorber and spring options?

Nice, but I can get gas shocks that will bolt in place for the same price, the cepek one will have to be bolted on the outside of the coils, unless I'm reading it wrong ?
But I also like to look at all options, with a bit of tinkering, you could bolt on something that is more budget friendly for everyone to enjoy.
I saw the kit for $1,750.00, :unsure:

Looked up the Cepek shocks, they do bolt on directly, Iand you can adjust them manualy, the other options is to get a controoler to adjust them on the fly.
Moe decisions....

Looked up the Cepek shocks, they do bolt on directly, Iand you can adjust them manualy, the other options is to get a controoler to adjust them on the fly.
Moe decisions....
They have an excellent reputation with a lifetime warranty. Cepek has a presence on The Hummer Network, and you can PM him directly with questions.

And to add to the issue, I also need a new hub portal for the rear....

That's a lot of money for spring and shocks. Surely, some tuning of the suspension is needed for the weekend warrior riders.

Going to have to get some sponsors and plaster the HumV sides with racing stickers.

No sponsors for me. Just want a nice ride. There is a cost associated with anything. Yes about the $$$ but if it works, then the $$$ is not an issue

Well the piggy is not full of $$$
As the saying goes, there's just so much lipstick that you can put on a pig, at the end it's still a pig.
So, no matter how much cash I put on the Humvee, it will still be a Humvee

Considering the options availabe fo a better suspension, the options availble are limited
Do I spend 10K on suspension ?
Do I spend $1,500.00 on shocks ?
Do I spend to have a fabricator make a set of custom mounts so that I can use any shocks ?
I was trying to find something that will suit every budget, at the end I guess yu get what you paid for

Or do like Tobash mentioned, go with the Cepek and call it a day, decisions, decisions..

By the time you paid for custom brackets you would have spent the same amount for these lifetime shocks. IMHO

Also, my luck with so called fabricators, specially in Michigan have not been good. Just venting here
I'm not complicated and have disposable income to buy crap
I e-mailed, a Mountain XXXXXX in Belleville MI and never heard back
A while ago I wanted pipe doors like on the Jeep's for the Humvee, I contacted a Red XXXX in Allen Park MI and they quoted me $800.00 and I said yes and did never returned my call, went to see the guy and his secretary said he was too busy to talk to me
I went to see another person, booked a meeting and went to the guy's shop in MI and he never showed up
At least Tom Cepek took and returned my calls and took the time to explain to me how his shocks works, end result ,happy customer and a $1,699.00 sale.

Got more done tonight, all of the wiring is done. Both rear shocks are installed and plumbed in as well as the LF shock, the only problem is that I'm short of the brake tubing, followed the guidelines, min 8ft for the rear and min 6ft from the compressor to the valves and you have to have some play for shock action. Now I have none left for the RF shock, I went to my local parts store and they will have it in tomorrow morning. 5/32 X .040
The kit shows that it came with 60ft of tubing, probably 75-80ft would do the job, specially if you want everything to be neat and in place.
I used tie wraps with an eyelet so that I could screw them in place and leave the tie wrap loose for play
I should have it on the road by tomorrow night

The install is complete, I will call this one a success, the ride is amazing, so nice to be able to adjust as you are driving .
I only had one concern, like I stated before, the kit came with 60' of tubing, after talking with Tom Cepek, he commented that another Humvee owner had the same issue, it seems that for the Hummer H1, 60' is enough, but when it comes to the Humvee, about 15-20' extra is required. This is being addressed by Tom
I was able to get some from my local part store in order to finish my install, tube size is 5/32
I mounted the compressor near the windshield washer tank and the air valves where mounted under the passenger seat behind the driver
I would say that if you have the funds, go ahead with the project, the ride is worth it.
If you are not certain, but want a smoother ride, I would say remove the shocks and drive it around, if the ride is better, just get the shocks
If there's no difference when you remove the shocks, then try to find coils that are rated for 940lbs, I have a coil chart a few messages back
I personally think that the coils from American Humvee made a difference, got the front higher and the tires don't rub anymore
But, the coils alone did not do the job, only once I replaced the shocks did I find that the ride was greatly improved
The suspension action is amazing on the road, the tire just bounces up and down and the body hardly moves
I will try to get the Go-Pro out and try to get some action when I hit the trails
At the end:
American Humvee Coils $1,200.00
Cepek GT Shocks $1,700.00
Time spent working for a nice ride $0.00

After playing with tire pressure and different road test, I found out that the coils make a difference, but not at $1,200.00 one.
So this is where I am, I remembered seeing an old car on the road with dead shocks and how the car was bouncing up and down, then it hit me, that's kind of what I would like, but not as soft as that.
So I decided to remove my new 10K shocks and just run on the coils as a test, so don't be too quick to judge here, but the ride improved so much ,that this was the ride I'm looking for, when over the same road at 25lbs of pressure and wow, this is nice.
I have concluded that the 10K shocks are way too much for an empty Humvee, probably a light duty 1/2 truck shock would do the trick.
I have contacted a fabricator to see if they could make me a bushing that would accept a lighter truck shock using the original Humvee mount
I just need to find shocks that would be for a light duty truck and fit the specs below
Approximate collapsed length is 12-1/4" center eye to center eye.
Extended length is 16 and 3/8" center eye to center eye.
Travel is 4-3/4".
The bump stop on the shaft is 1-1/2" tall which is included in the travel length.
Diameter of loop is 1" and width of the loop is 1-3/4"

Do any of you think that this makes sense, my truck is stock and empty, just want a smoother ride on the trails.
Let me know what you think, good or bad, even if this means I've gone crazy
Wanted to know how its been since you removed your shocks and just running on springs? Have you since added shocks or are you still running on just the coil springs?

If you look at the previous message, you will see that I added the Cepek shocks, the ride is really nice and amazing in the trails.
