I am replacing some parts in my M1009 steering column and while I'm in there I wanted to replace the lock cylinder to one that doesn't have the universal CUCV key.
Also, I pretty much have to now as the face of it just broke off as I was trying to remove it.
What is the trick to get it to release? It looks like on my 1984 it's the style where it has a tab in the back that you are supposed to depress.
In a related note, I just realized that the replacement I bought is the standard type where there is a pin that goes through a hole to retain the lock and then a screw over the top to retain that.
Is it possible to convert it to that style?
I will add some attachments to provide context.
Thanks in advance.
