Injection pump oil lines - "how to" question

I looked at the existing threads and got so-so info.

1) removal of the IP is recommended - is this really necessary?
2) Westech offers newly made hoses (have not heard back from him, yet). I'd rather go with new material on this one than with OEM stock of unknown age. Any feedback on his hoses? A member could not get the fittings to work that a local shop had crimped on for him. I try to avoid that.
3) any other tips (tools? techniques?) worth sharing?

First let me say my truck does not have a winch at this moment so I didn't have to work around the drive shaft for the winch. I did not remove the IP. I did clean the area around the fittings thoroughly with brake clean and clean rags so no dirt or loose paint would have a chance of entering the IP fittings or hoses. No special tools needed and the hoses I purchased from Westech fit perfect. All in all it maybe took 20 minutes give or take. I found it took the longest to start the hose where it threads into the engine block. I did this from under the truck and it took a couple tries to get the threads started correctly because the port in the engine block is at a slight angle. Very little oil came out of the lines but having a small coffee can will be handy.

I was out side working on he junker deuce.. I am taking Special orders for the oil lines but the big batch of 40 are long gone. I can make them 2 sets at a time now but the price has gone up 5 bucks (really you have to pay for shipping)

I made braided stainless for mine. IIRC it cost around $80.00 for all the material, fittings and hose, but well worth the piece of mind knowing that the rubber ones aren't there to leak and break.

I got mine from Memphis. Like DieselBob mentioned it took about 20 minutes. Start the end on the block first and twist the hose from the bottom by hand to start. It's easier than it looks if its clean and you take your time.

What size are the braided stainless lines that you guys need? The place I work sells pre-made stainless lines that are for use in oil systems, brake lines and fuel lines etc. for NASCAR, INDY, Dirt track racing etc...we have them in lengths from 5 inches to 8 feet long in AN-3 and AN-4 sizes...cheap too...let me know what sizes are required and I can work something up for y'all....It would also do me good to know, so when I eventually get to build a bobber... :jumpin::grin:

Ok I just ordered $500 in Oil line parts.... Man that hose went up $$$$$$$$$$$$$ I can still do the price I have been quoting $35.00 shipped
I will have a few sets at Findley and for SS members I will do that same $30.00 Non SS members $40.00
