If you do have a bad battery, and you do manage to get it jump-started, you may burn out your voltage regulator, letting it run to charge the batteries(if you have a bad battery).

I would remove the batteries(since you tried charging them unsuccessfully) and take them to an auto parts store and ask to have them load tested. I think you may need new batteries.

This is why everybody should have at least Two deuce's, so you can slave one off the other:-D

ABSOLUTELY! My slave cable is one of the best things I have bought!

I wish I could (easily) make my Mule 24V so I could hang a slave port on it and use it as a yard goat/jump vehicle.

That's how I use my CUCV! It always starts and is small enough to get around all the trucks, to jump them(especially in the cold weather) to give me maximum cranking power!

Hmm I have a mule, maybe I could convert it to 24v!

Oh no DH, Now I think I need to get a CUCV!

But seriously, if you're going to use, rely on, marvel at, work on, work with, sell or what ever your truck then it needs to start. Starting requires good batteries, and they don't often come with good ones. Of the 7 trucks I have recovered, for a total of 18 batteries, only one Deuce would start on its own. I just replace them. I clean/repair/ replace all the terminal connections and put in good batteries. I can then move on to filters and seals and any other issues that come with readying the truck for use knowing it doesn't have battery issues. I use legend 75 batts from NAPA because they deliver to my door, and the trucks start.

Why Jump?

If in doubt, most deuces with operative fuel systems do really well on a pull start with a 40 to 60' chain or extraction strap. That way you don't have to worry about frying anything, just running over your tow vehicle if you're not careful!

Cheers,

Kyle F. McGrogan:-D
