Looking for a 4 Man Hard Top without the Turret Hole

Hello All,

Does anyone have any experience with or know where I can find a quality 4 man steel hard top roof for an A2 series truck (M1045A2) WITHOUT the Turret hole?

That looks great! I saw what they had in their site but was concerned on the specs and wasn't sure if the roof was identical to OEM. Did you have any issues with fitment? Did your existing oem fasteners, nuts and bolts work with this top? Did you need any additional hardware?

Oh and lastly, do you have any additional pics?

Let me know what you want to see and I will make you a picture.

I would say the roof is OEM. The way how it is build and how it looks seems to be original.
My HMMWV was never a slant back so I completely build it by myself and bought me all the hardware new.
I also welded the dodgers on my windshield frame it was a pain to align but it worked and it fitted perfectly into the brackets from the sponsons.

Just so you know, I just bought a 1990's civilian Hummer H1 for 35K with upgraded A/C, CTIS, 2 inch lift, Hummer Slantback placed aftermarket, CB radio, PA system and overhead console.

It would be California legal, but I live in another Communistic state on the other coast.

So your whole idea of purchasing a FMV because it is cheaper and easier to obtain is something you still have time to reconsider.

Seek and yea shall find sir.

Thank you for this. I haven't found one online worthwhile for under 60k. However, I'm way ahead of the game theoretically. I say theoretically because I haven't received it yet. Don't know what kind of gremlins exist with it yet. GP Lost my paperwork then afterwards submitted it late. At least they admitted it and gave me some cash back but I'm annoyed as shit. I'm going to buy those doors you referred me to in that x door thread.

That looks great! Awesome job on the inner frame. Can you post pics of how your frame mounts at the B pillar? Looking at doing a 4 man hard top and looking at how other have done their setups while I try to learn/design how to do mine. Or advice on how you would do it different if you had to do it over. Thanks for posting what you did post!!!

Reason I ask is that I currently have a slantback setup from the c-pillar back along with the hardtop a-pillar, so am deciding on which way to go with the hardtop. Key requirements are no excessive weight (compared to armored roofs), no aluminum soda can roofs, and no sunroof.
It seems like this one is the only option.

Guys, you can spend $1600 for a solid steel top OR just custom cut a 42” diameter 18 gauge sheet steel piece to cover the turret hole and butt weld and hammer and dolly flat. Less than $50.

HummerH1 made his whole hard top from scratch for less than $260.

Aluminum is even easier. Just get a 4’x4’ aluminum square of 1/4” thick sheet, angle grind the edges and corners and screw it down. Less than $100. Or cut it to 42” and MIG/TIG.

Welp, let me give you my thoughts on that roof. Seco will tell you that it's mfg from a DOD contractor in Turkey to spec.

Outside of the fact that foreign mfgs are not permitted to make parts for our warfighters, to my knowledge, there has never been an OEM hard top on a 4 man truck without a turret.

Now that that is out of the way, that Seco roof is relatively light. So I don't believe you will have any weight related issues.

However, that roof is NOT to spec. When I placed that roof on my 1045a2 it was approx 2.5-3 inches too wide. A roof that is too wide creates a plethora of downstream issues with doors and other components. I would say get yourself a roof for your truck and get a nice turret delete?

What is your vision for the truck?

As far as the vehicle, looking to have it close to spec in look and function, but not concerned with form quite as much as function.
Cost is another factor, with the Seco roof coming in at the lower end. Would go full turret, but tough to get all the supporting parts so not heading that route. Also hit or miss locating hard tops.
Any idea on the weight of original w/delete vs Seco? Odd that they would not just reproduce to spec.

Location is California, currently moving to Montana (but not bringing the local politics). Have an arctic kit for winter already.

So... The question is which roof vs the Seco roof. My 1045a2 roof is steel. So that roof is approx 350-400 lbs. The Seco roof is likely 180 to 200 lbs. I could move the Seco roof around my garage myself. The OEM Steel roof I needed help.

If you're interested in a turret I see all of the parts on ebay right now it's just pricey.

Lastly, the REV trucks have 2 roofs. The armor roof overlay and the under roof. I have not removed either of my 1167 so I can't comment on those weights but I would guess that each is comparable in weight to the Seco roof.
