Hello Rory!
Thanks a lot for your kind words!

I have painted up the lights front and rear. Hobby boss supplies these parts made entirely of clear plastic - that allows to paint them up in an interesting way. In the photos below the wheels are only dry fitted, so they look funny. Somehow the left lights also look crooked, I'm not sure why, in reality they look "straighter". I have also tried to simulate the edges of the armor plates in front, like you told me. Here are the photos:

I feel like I could finish this one up in one day if life didn't keep coming in the way... Let's see how long...

Thanks for looking and have a nice day

Hello everybody!
Recently I have worked on the weapons mounts, there are two foldable mounts on the sides of the superstructure, I’ve built one deployed:

And one folded:

I had to scratchbuild their locking levers. I’ve also added what a friend was always pointing out - the chains securing the fuel filler caps. A third chain is on the trailer hitch in the rear:

I was also working on the armament:

One “pig” is from an AFV Club kit, the other one from a Dragon figure set, and their mounts are leftovers from my TAKOM Sgt. York. The “invention” on the left is the XM174 automatic grenade launcher that was tested in Vietnam by USAF (that info was supplied by a friendly Vietnam vet).
To add some stowage I started with the ammo boxes. Another info from my vet friend is that some boxes were painted white and meant to hold the 40mm illum rounds:

And that would be it for now - thanks for looking and have a nice day

Hello Rory!

Thanks a lot for your comment and for your kind words! I understand you've got your own life and things to do, I don't expect you to comment every post in this thread, although I can't thank you enough for your contributions here and for your help with my model.

And today what I hope will be the last update before the deal is done...

I've built the opening assist for the rear doors:

I also have some stuff to go with the car:

Among other things we have here an M16 with a (scratchbuilt) underslung XM148 grenade launcher (tested in Vietnam, superseded by the M203), 40mm grenade clips for the XM174 (the oval ones), a radio yet to be painted and a drink cooler (I still have to paint the "zinc coating" on it).

Thanks for looking and have a nice day!

Absolutely splendid!

A tidbit regarding weapons - in the Army version, the driver often had an M79 grenade launcher. It fit in the gun rack between the front seats, and is seen in many period Vietnam photos on or hanging from his open hatch cover.

Cheers

Hello Rory!
Thanks a lot for that detail. I'll probably use it in the MP version (yes, some beautiful day I'll build another one!). As for the USAF SP version I have a message from a veteran who wrote me he had this funny combo of M16 with XM148 and that's why I modelled it, as well as the details of the interior stowage (also fitted out to his specs with a sleeping place, water cooler and a radio).

And in the meantime my baby is done! Here's how it looks like now:

I would like to thank everybody who commented here. Special thanks to @Rooper90 who started this thread (that I hijacked, oops) and it motivated me to sign up on steel soldiers. Even more thanks go to Rory - Rory, without your great help I wouldn't be able to model many of the details that I did! Thanks so much!

Also, thanks for looking and have a nice day

Pawel, your model is absolutely beautiful! Your attention to detail and your abilities to reproduce it are outstanding.

I'm glad to have been able to contribute to your project, and hope you will share the E1 version here when you build it.

Cheers
