I’ll add some more pics
Many thanks Stonepicker1. The photos and the time you took to take them and, it looks like even cut the electrical tie to spread out the looms for a better view are, well, I can't tell you how much I appreciate that! Sorry for the delay in responding but two things combined -- (1) had a family emergency crop up and (2) it's so darn hot here in Houston that I've had to explore my wiring in fits and spurts -- created the delay. Unfortunately, I don't have great news to report. I've been searching, believe me, and while your photos for sure show the loomed wire that runs down there on the side of the alternator, my loom/wire is simply not there -- just looks like it was pulled out at the connector. Sort of strange because one would expect that the missing wire would be there "hanging out," but of course as most Steel Soldiers know, goodness only knows what my truck's been through before I bought it. I can't tell where your loomed wire goes once it drops down to "somewhere" after it goes down along the side of the alternator and I definitely didn't, and do not, expect you to start tracing a loomed wire to who knows where. I've looked at some wiring diagrams and it could be -- although I'm far from sure -- that that wire goes to (or in my case "should go to") the ECM. I'm attaching some more photos that show the wire(s) after I pulled them out of the loom. You can see that the brown wire I'm working on is tied to the another brown wire that goes to the alternator's connector, which perhaps will provide a hint to anyone reading this post in case they know where my missing wire should run to. Also attaching two wiring diagrams that I've managed to find here and there. Looking in there at the ECM and seeing what a chore it will be to get in there and pull the many wires connecting to it to see if there is a brown wire running to Pin 24 is a daunting task for me. I'm not as young as I used to be (who is) but I'm in my late 60s and working in this heat like a contortionist all the while sweating like a pig is a bit much for me. For what it's worth I took the truck to my local GM dealer for a look see but that turned out to be a huge waste of time and money. Seems there all the alternator guys working there are young guys who've never worked on a truck older than 5 years. The mechanic they assigned to look at my truck, who I went back into the work area and spoke with directly didn't even know what a Tech2 was for crying out loud. Anyway, enough whining. If anyone reading this has any ideas whatsoever I sure would appreciate hearing from you.
Again, StonePicker1, my deep appreciation -- you're willingness to help is above and beyond! It'll come back to you, I'm sure ....
