M1009 Wheel bearing servicing and hub replacement

Something else to think about if your 1008 hubs were contaminated is that you may want to pull your spindles off and check the condition of the stub shaft, and the roller bearing that supports it. The last Dana 60 I pulled apart was so contaminated that the roller bearing the inside both of the spindles were destroyed, and the stub shafts also had to be replaced. If you already have the hubs off it isn't much more work to take the spindles off and check, at the least you can re-pack the inner support bearing.

Excellent write up! I did mine today and all the spindle nuts were loose. What brought me to do them was the heat the hubs were putting off. The drivers side was the hottest. Not burning hot but not exactly comfortable to the touch either. After doing both fronts I cruised her home (M1009) at about 60 for about a half hour and the hubs were just barley warm now.
