M101 frame numbers?

Is there a serial number on a M101 frame?

If so where is it?

Should be stamped on a black plate somewhere on either side of the tongue.

I have a black data plate on the M101 trailer body but no data plate on the trailer tongue.

I found nothing! So I stamped the number of the data plate into the frame.

I've always been told "no".

The plate with the serial and reg # were either bolted, rivieted, glued, or welded on depending on when and by who it was mfg

How to weld an aluminum plate to a steel tounge? Please explain that. As an engineer for me that is impossible!

On my trailer the aluminum plate is attached to the steel body with steel solid rivets.
