Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
I know that many on these SWAT teams are either former military, or trained by former military. So since either option falls into the same category of "silly"(according to you)...Based on this, my question is who are these trained proffessionals supposed to be then? Maybe those black T-shirt clad security wannabees at the corner night club?NEIOWA said:About the only thing sillier that domestic police with automatic weapons is police with armor. Leave it to trained professionals.
I consider it irresposible for a police department to be unprepared to confront those who would intentionally endanger the lives of others(especially when they have the means to do so) . I seriously doubt the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office is going to be patrolling the mall with the m114 or have officers patrolling with mp5's, but I am glad they have them in reserve for the times they need them. (remember that Bank of America robbery a couple of years ago in LA?)NEIOWA said:About the only thing sillier that domestic police with automatic weapons is police with armor. And who are the trained professionals in your town? Who comes to the barricaded subject with a hostage, the National Guard? I see your experience with law enforcement, espscially SWAT is limiited. Perhaps Law Enforcement in your area aren't professional, doesn't hold true for everywhere. Our team has M16s, MP5s and G36s and do quite well at what they do. I would say the only thing sillier then the police having these items is your statement.
