With the seat like that you should be smiling from the time you climb in it till the time you climb out .

My old M50A2 water truck has a piece of foam that sits on top of plywood, no suspension and I spend close to 12 hours a day in that on fires, I know that's my own fault, I definitely need to upgrade, make sure the brakes work good and enjoy the trip !

I just completed bearings and adjusting brakes at the same time.

Day one report.

120 miles in and I got pulled over with a warning for impeding traffic, and the state trooper telling me these trucks are not legal in Colorado, I was lucky mine is registered in Texas so he let me off with a warning. 260 miles in, a fuel return line split. Took an hour for my better half to drive to Napa and get a few new ones.

Made it to Pampa Texas around 9:45. Average speed of 53mph.

After a weekend at my relatives house I headed out today a bit after 2pm. About 100 miles into Oklahoma I pulled off I-40 because of a hot metal smell and my brakes were so hot they were smoking, I had previously adjusted my brakes too tightly. I had noticed some black oil dripping from my wheel , after a while on the side of the road I took the hub off and the outer bearing was almost completely washed of grease. I ended up greasing three of the hubs that were smoking and adjusting the brakes correctly so they didn't make contact. Tomorrow I will start early.

picture is steam coming off the drum I sprayed with water.

During the repair a foreigner felt bad for the events that occurred. He pulled off the highway and gave me the sand and said "I hope this gift helps your bad day become better, I brought it with me from the beach."

Today wasn't too bad, after freeing up the brakes and repacking bearings the truck easily pulled up and down hills and hardly reached 1100 degrees F EGT while traveling 50-55 MPH from west I-40 Oklahoma and ended up stopping in Little Rock AK. Unfortunately a new smaller fuel leak has developed near the injection pump and will attempt to troubleshoot it in the morning.

Past few days were quite testing to say the least. In Memphis my starter decided to die found a MT 39 and swapped it out in a parking lot, and fuel was pouring out of the HH and IP. Taylor diesel got me in ASAP, we worked together to get it out of the truck quickly and into the shop to examine passages , tolerance and check for any issues. Calling it a night in Montgomery.
