When I talked with a local big rig shop about the alison trans in these trucks he said to stay with the oil they came with and he would have no problem putting 15w40 in the trans and he even called there alison dealer and had me talk with there tech and he told me the same thing and he also said he saw no reason to expect it to cause any life expectancy loss. So I would say stay with what you have just make sure you know what you have.
