MuleMac01, try B&M Military Surplus 518-563-6656 They have new parts, and are also parting out 50+ 2.5, 5, & 10 ton trucks. From having looked at pictures of their back lot they have a lot of older trucks. They also have several 5 & 10 ton gas trucks, so, they may have 1 or 2, 2.5 ton gassers. Looks like a fun project ya got going. I think I'll subscribe as well.

Sweet thank you I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they got.

Ok time to get back into the swing of posting stuff on this truck. Weather has cooled down in Las Vegas to start work on my truck. Last few days I've removed and replaced the rear main seal that was leaking very minor on the rebuilt engine. Had to drop the oil pan to do it though it was a pain but easy when you know when and where the 9 oil cork gaskets go:) after that was done I put everything back together and sealed it up.

Got the transmission back on the engine yesterday. New belts coming and thermostat and air compressor to be installed soon. (had a striped bolt in the locking groove for the belt pulley)... Anyone know where I can find Exhaust flange gaskets? Finding part for gas m44 trucks is getting hard but I'm almost there engine might go back in this weekend.

You can try White Owl, I'm assuming you are talking the gaskets that connect the manifold to the short extension pipe. The manifold to head gaskets are also hard to find, and mostly need to get the whole engine gasket kit.

MuleMac01, your engine & Transmission looks like new. I like Reo engines, and the company made quite a few different engines over the years. Most people don't know, that from 1954 to 1975 Reo made their own 440ci V8 truck motor. It's not a take off of the Chrysler 440, as the Reo engine came out a few years before Chryslers. And after Reo, White continued to produce the engine up to 1975. I thought about dropping one in a 1957 M35 I found at Barstow Truck Parts, but I just didn't have enough room at home for another large project. 440 Reo V8 - 1.jpg440 Reo V8 - 3.jpg440 Reo V8 - 2.jpg

That five-blade fan looks like something the seven dwarves hammered together. I wonder why they made an asymmetrical fan for this application. To create a gap to allow tool access to something? Change belts without fan removal?

You do know that your truck never looked that good, right? Not even when it was delivered to the motor pool.

More work this week put the cab drivetrain plates back on, also put the data plates on the dash, and installed a new headlight foot switch for high and low beams.

Just fore warning, I went through three Newstar brand dimmer switches with Douglas connectors before finding a good NOS one. The Newstar brand internal cam would fail one way or the other, and no amount of hitting, tapping or some other external violence worked. You can carefully pull them apart and reset the cam, and try to add material, but it will fail again.

Most use I ever got was 15 pushes before it would stop working.

Good job all around though, makes me jealous.
