Sure is funny how a missing possum trumps a MVPA NATIONAL convention on a MV site, tells you a lot about the MVPA convention

Hey Tony it was good sitting around the fire having a beer and talking military trucks. BTW Elmo was good starter fluid.

MWMules - I would like to graciously thank you for the litter stands and the Surgical Gown that is era perfect. I sat these up after spending some time on learning how they "latch" - now I know how medics got their purple hearts - trying to unfold these critters.

Doc who was with us was pointing out the medical box you had and with nothing in it - he was pulling drawers and spouting off what each drawer held - just as if it happened seconds ago with him using them. I see an IV holder for the stretcher in my very near future plus a couple manaquins like they had displayed at H/ville - now that was an awesome display.

Thank you for holding these till Saturday for me and it was great to meet you - I will try to get pictures of the 43 with the display as soon as I can.

Also thank you to WM for a great price on the stretcher era perfect with the sale on Saturday. Wish I could have gotten that second one from you.

Picked up a lot of items from Midwest Military and great putting names to faces meeting John and a future visitor to Stone Mountain - walked away from that table with a handfull as well plus items getting shipped out when they got back home and organized.

Thanks PB for the invitation otherwise I would have not paid attention nor taken vacation time to go.

I know you likely will not want to read this, but I saw some of those IV bottle holders on a table at the show. If I knew you wanted them I would have pointed them out!

Clinto,
Thanks for the link to your photos, I just spent a better part of an hour checking them out.

Bert

I concur. Now I wish I had gone. One of these days I'll make it to a convention and a GA Rally.

No problem-I had friends who wanted to go but couldn't make it so I tried to get as much as I could so they could at least see what they missed.

The Ga Rally is an event not to be missed-I believe this year we're going to have more vehicles than the MVPA National Convention.....................

get some photos of that early wwii COE, behind the cckw.. the cabover truck, please......jc:jumpin: pretty please...
Here is what I have, the lighting sucked and they trucks were packed in pretty tight. I talked to the man who restored it and he told me that a lot of the parts are original to the truck, including the bed floor and the brake shoes. He also told me that there are only four of them in the US.

Due to the crammed together display of the vehicles (out of necessity, I know, but still unfortunate), my pictures didn't come out any different than those already posted except this one of the cab.

It was a good show, we had a ball, and got to talk to some great folks, but never for long enough (I'm chatty, I guess). Never did get to take Wreckerman up on the offered chair to hang out for a bit! The times I went back by there he was away, no doubt hunting Elmo (or escorting pretty reporters...8))

Cheers

One of my favorite vehicles in the show (though it is almost impossible to pick favorites from so many lovely vehicles) was this one- a 1968 Chevy pickup.
Part of my attraction to it was, of course, because my first vehicle was an almost identical '68 Chevy pickup, the main difference being the spare on mine was on the outside of the bed.
The rest though, was that this vehicle is in almost completely original, as bought, condition.
I talked at length with the owner who told me the wood floor of the bed has been replaced, along with tires and the usual tune-up items, but the rest is original. His dad bought the truck at auction in 1977 and used it quite a bit, but it has always been kept in a garage.

We don't see that many of the "mundane" admin vehicles preserved, and almost never in original (though weathered) condition.

Cheers

You don't know crammed unless you went to the Portland show in 08. That was ridiculous. And they HAD the room.

Sorry about the crowded vehicles, we had to move things close to the back wall until the lowboys got the armor unloaded and by the time we started to spread the vehicles out, most of the folks had already set up their displays. We did manage to spread some of the smaller vehicles out. Thanks for all the positive comments, glad everybody enjoyed the convention. Chuck W.

Chuck, crowded or not, it was a good show and we had a ball there. And we stuffed Reloader's wife's new ride to within an inch of its capacity with booty (of the MV variety) for the trip home! Y'all did good, and we appreciate it. [thumbzup]

Cheers
