Keep in mind that AM General does not like the idea of civilians driving military HMMWVs. They have tried to make several states refuse registation of them. Here is a copy of a letter sent to the State of Conneticut from AMG concerning HMMWV registration:

That's an interesting letter Elwenil, considering what AMG was saying when they were selling Hummers.

"..... and save for the addition of a few creature comforts, the street legal civilian version called the Hummer, is virtually unaltered."

This statement is taken from one of their promotional videos. It can be viewed on Youtube under the heading "Hummer Promo Video 1998"

It sounds like just a few creature comforts need to be added to make a HMMWV 50 state compliant.

And what did the great state of Conneticut do or what was their response?

Not much, because I know several guys in CT that have legally registered HMMWV's....
