Hey all! Just wanted to say a quick hello. I have been lurking and learning for a bit and finally bought an M923 cargo from GL. I use to ride in these trucks when I was a kid. My father is retired army and the M923 and M35a2 were what we use to go to his reserve family picnics in. I cant wait to get it. I have a lot of learning to do. Thanks for all the info you guys post its amazing!

Welcome to the site!! You have come to the right place. I've been to Wallingford a few times. My stepbrothers and sisters lived there and some still do. I grew up in Enfield.

Welcome! I live in Wallingford as well and recently bought a M35A2 from a guy in Meriden. I drive the thing just about 50 miles every weekend just buzzing around wallingford and Meriden. When you get the 923 up here give me a shout I'd love to see one of the "big" trucks up close.

Question about brakes on a non running M923

So my M923A1 should be here either later today or tomorrow morning. My question is. The truck does not run I plan on pulling it off the trailer however there will be no air pressure for the brakes. I looked in the TM and the truck has a drum parking brake on the output of the tcase. Will this be usable to help slow the truck off the ramps? Or is there a way to pressurize the system with shop air to allow for brake operation?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
~Justin

I would not count on the parking brake to help much.

Yes, you can air up the truck through a gladhand (front d/s, labeled emergency) and it should have service brakes (even while caged). Leave it connected to air or you only have 1 good stop, maybe 2.

Airing the truck up is the best way to unload the truck for sure. If you cage the brakes it just makes the truck way to unsafe to move around.
