yes i completely flushed and refilled it with new DOT 5 when i rebuilt the brake cyl. And it sounds like the Air tanks are probably needing a drain First thing! As for the fluid level i will be checking that again and will bleed if need be. But since there is no air release noise when i press the pedal id say the tanks may be the cause (being undrained so long) Ill check both Fluid and empty air first thing. As for the line lock yes and i left it in gear in line lock on. I understand this is not a parking brake now. New to this again and thanks for the patience and help thus far. Now for the manual ill be carefully reading it when i find out what one is actually for my truck since there are so many ive looked through.

The pedal is not hard but firm and it will press like usual but there is no air sounds releasing air as usually happens. I am unsure of the trucks true "Model" Its titled a 1975 yet i am unsure. Its got a big winch on it and its a multifuel turbo motor to my understanding.

yes it is building pressure and the gauge says 120-125 psi, however brakes are firm as usual so id say the hydrolic part is working but there is an issue with the air (again have not drained tanks) could be the "main" problem?

Ill drain the tanks and really get into a manual for this if i can pinpoint its actual make model and motor and then i can really understand the issues and how to fix them. Thank you all for your help and ill see what i can find out this afternoon and report back.

Also if anyone has any suggestions as to were i can get a bed for this truck ? Im in Western / North Carolina in the App MTS. i can be in ga in 20 min or Tenn in 20. So im looking for something closer than FL or PA if anyone knows where i can get a bed for this truck. Thanks again!

That truck in the App Mountains with no brakes will make it to GA or TN in a lot less that 20 minutes. Fix your brakes.

I think he is pointing out the warning lights that may be associated with the brake problem. Although hijacking would work too.

Sorry guys i was just looking to find advice and Swbradley your right i was trying to explain. Last night i downloaded and printed the TM. I first took the advice given here about draining the air tanks .... REPORT: Just under 2 gallons of water came out :cry: after that i ran the truck for a few more min to refill the tanks. At this time i pumped the brakes and i heard the pressure releasing as it should again! Pumped a few more times and then no air sounds :confused: Dam..... So i checked the brake fluid via the access hatch in the floor and bingo nearly dry.... filled that up and pumped brakes repeatedly with my arm while filling it up after the air bubbles stopped. Got back in and fired her up and bingo all systems were go...

After thought .... there had got to be a leak in the system.... as i filled and bled these when i replaced the mast. cyl. few months back.
Also im sure just filling her up and going is a major fail - need to bleed-

You posted a fact.

Were you asking a question or are you thinking you may have a problem?

The 2 red lights are simply the illumination lights for the gauges. They are NOT warning lights.

Please read the -10TM to learn some of the basics, and post clearly. If you have a question, ask a question.

Thanks for the update. Now, spend a lot more time with the -10 manual. When you think you are done with it go back and do it again.

And i will continue reading it as i have it now, Printed last night. Im not a complete novice to turning wrenches guys. Just looking for some friendly conversation and advice. Life goes a little easier if your not the one making all the mistakes, learn from others.

Glad it worked out. Now you need to ensure the brake system remains sound and reliable. Knowlwdge is power, and the knowledge gained from reading the technical documents that support the operation of these trucks can make the difference between a real bad day and a fun drive on a sunny afternoon. Your mechanical abilities were never in question, however your level of knowledge in regards to the truck you were operating, was severly lacking. Simple/routine maintenance procedures; draining the air tanks, would have prevented the accumilation of 2 gallons of water, which would have prevented you running over the neighbor's trees. That's considered a near miss. That could have been the neighbors kids. Experience is a great teacher, however somethings the lessons learned are deadly. Learning from others is also very valuable, but nothing replaces knowledge gained through review and understanding of technical manuals. Read before speed.

If you have not been in the habit of draining your air tanks, its time to pull the airpack and take it apart.

You do this for a couple of reasons, the biggest is that if there is a lot of water in the air can, it might not be rebuildable. Make sure it isn't rusted to death before you buy a rebuild kit! If its not too bad, you get off cheap. If its horrible, you'll need a new airpack.

Gotcha yeah i read that also and got a few quotes on them just to see what id be in it for. Not to bad. When the water was drained It was mainly all water but there was some black residue (presumably from the buildup) but nothing rusty and everything seems to be in good working order. The only question left is where did all the Dot 5 fluid go ? i was sure i filled it all when i bled the lines last. I have a feeling that the previous owner was ignorant to the air tank drain also thus the amount in it. I have driven the truck about 15 hours total thus far.
