It was some what OK during the day. But at around 8 at night someone turned the Wi-Fi off. Because at 8 signal would be gone.

Watch out! Once you attend this rally it'll be all you think about till the next year's rally.
It's very rural out there but the wife did get online while we were out there last yr.
Plenty of "face time" with everyone and skype? You mean snipe? I think there is a late night snipe hunt. They'll let you hold the bag!

Might be good for me, wife is always telling me I need to unplug for a while. At least she says that until the internet doesn't work then it's my fault.

Life motto of commo. No one knows who you are until the internet or phone don't work.

Even before they had Wifi, I could get it from the stoop of my cabin. The Lodge was only 100' away.

I'm still trying to figure out the wrist band thing.

Mabey it's the Louisiana edumacation that is throwing me off.

Do we need a wrist band for Sunday or is that day null and void.

Good question! I will likely not have one for Sunday. They will get me all the other 5 days I'm there!

Don't worry about the wrist band requirement thingy...it changes about every two hours.:rules:

5? 8-12 is 5 days, I'm so confused now.

Now I've read through the 270+ posts and just trying to get a feel for what I need to bring besides the essentials.

It says MKT will have grub thur, fri, sat. If you had to figure a daily cost to eat on at the mkt what would you guess.

Now, wed evening, sun morning?

I am planning on doing the BBQ Saturday so I've looked through the menu and added all the items up and figured that is how much I will spend there, lol

I am a total noob to the rally and I'm guess visa or mastercard isn't widely accepted at the mkt so I want to make sure I bring enough presidents with me.

Edit:

Forgot to ask. Fuel point. Is there a fuel point, or a nearby petrol station if needed.

I would estimate that 3 squares at the MKT would be around $12. Some meals are a couple of dollars more than others. Dtown also has a little eatery. My 5 days is because I'll be there Monday or Tuesday. One of the members has done a low country boil on Wed night and invited everyone to join in. Sunday Morning will likely be leftover city at the MKT so food will be available. I bring a bunch of canned goods just in case but never use them.

Ok cool, think all my questions have been answered. Look forward to going.

I put a reply in the vol. needed thread, but I can help with commo if needed. Have full HF-UHF in the truck and I plan on bringing my Yaesu 7r with me.

To the hams going that have gone. Any repeaters in the area, d* nodes?

Mike you need to go on the trails it's a blast.
You can stay on the dry trails.
And you don't have to worry about getting stuck if you go with me now that I have forward and rear winchs

I just put 6 tubes of grease in one knuckle today. I really don't want to have to do it again for at least 6-12 months.

The closest hotels that I found to be reasonably priced are in Thomson, GA. There are some bed and breakfast hotels in Washington, GA but the price is more.

I ended up getting a cabin. If it wasn't for the a/c requirement I would rough it out. I know it seems like a silly thing to need but I cannot sleep with out it since I started my new meds.

For the first rally I'll just come to get to know the place. Maybe the next one.

It's a 631 miles trip from my house to Drew's then to the rally. I'm gonna baby her this trip, and start collecting spare parts for the next.

I have a reputation of getting stuck, no denying.
