Hello Gents
Due to the last out of the blue deal with my Fuel pump got me thinking ( No it don't hurt yet)
I have been off roading in the Ca. deserts for over 20 years now in different jeep and early bronco clubs. And in my rig i always carried spare stuff. Dist cap and rotor, starter, alt, fuel pump gaskets rtv belts some hoses hose repair kits tire repair kits elect repair stuff wire spring shackles u-joints J.B. weld for temp repairs sand paper and acetone to clean for the J.B. weld oil and antifreeze. sounds like a lot of crap for a little jeep but it all crams in somewhere nicely and in a couple instances got me or a member of our group home.

I will be taking my Deuce 20 to 40 miles out in the desert same places we took our jeeps would hate to end up with something like a fuel pump go out .

So my question is what would be your take along emergency kit for the Deuce
I guess I am also trying to ask what small stuff normally craps out that you can't limp home on and need to fix in the field.
Thanks Jerry

Ok ready?
Spare fuel filters (all 3), spare accelerator pedal spring, spare brake/clutch spring, spare intank fuel pump fuses, geared lug nut wrench for those rears, air compressor wrench for changing the belt, spare belts, DOT 5 brake fluid, 1 gallon 15/40 oil, RTV to plug those little leaks, wire ties, 100 MPH tape, couple spare lug nuts for each side, vise grips for closing off any leaky wheel cylinder brake lines, 5 gallon can of diesel, couple gallons distilled water, gladhand airhose, PB blaster, good bottle jack w/nice hearty piece of support wood, breaker bars, at least a couple spare tires (I have two for each truck), tools tools tools
If you have room then a 1" twin hammer impact wrench w/all sizes of impact sockets esp for the lugs.

Pb blaster is a penatrant lube, air comp. wrenchs are easily made if you have plate steel or there is an ad in the classifieds for them $20 bucks, I think.

PB blaster is a deep penetrating spray to free up old bolts etc. Air compressor wrenches are available from some fellow SS. Check out the classifieds. You can get away without one but life is much easier with one

i wish i had an air comp belt tool when my belt broke on me, took forever to tighten the pully using a pipe wrench and a giant pair of channel locks.

These are all great suggestions. If you are going to pack a 1" impact, plan on adding an extra air tank and a section of 1/2" air hose to help run it (search "Air Pig"). A half inch impact can do alot but isn't much help on some lugnuts. The geared lug wrench is a super item to have as someone said. If you have an additional section of long pipe, the gear reduction can be used on the front lugnuts too. Experience has taught me to travel with an assortment of compression fittings as well. You never know when you will need them somewhere in S Central GA when a plastic fuel line splits at 0'Dark thirty. If you have a towbar, keep it with the truck, it's no good at home! The last thing I won't go on a deuce trip without is my powerbleeder. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/3229-deuce-power-bleeder-r4x4-style.html?highlight=R4x4

In this day and age with environmental concerns ( and the high costs associated there-with) I'd also carry a bag of corks (various sizes) and a hammer. The "emergency fuel spill containment kit" has been saving truckers DEP/EPA clean-up costs for years. If a hole appears in a fuel tank, find a cork slightly larger than the hole and apply with the hammer.
