Does anyone know where old pop-up (or other type) campers go to die? I'd like to find a used one. The only criteria is that the air conditioning/ heating unit still works and has other salvageable items like water and electric hook-up feedthroughs, maybe a small fridge, sink, potty chair?
I want to gut one for use in the M109 Cheetahmobile (see avatar at left).

While laid up I've been busy drawing interior layouts and bouncing ideas off Margaret (wife). We sure would like to get this up and running in time for the GA rally in October!:-D

Impound yards have auctions on a regular basis. Most RVs brought in are pretty clapped out. Usually sell for almost nothing. Start checking the tow yards.

Try junkyards, craigslist, pay attention when you're riding down the road. I've seen a lot of them just stuck out in the woods, all forgotten. GSA seems good too, but they're stuff is full size and usually in large lots.

Don't limit yourself to pop ups, slide in campers have the same gear.
Around here you see ads for people with the older plywood skinned versions just giving them away or asking a couple hundred bucks. But most times they just want it hauled away. :-D

Pop-up Camper parts!

I would try craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums !!! Post an add in your area in the wanted ads section. You can target your search area. Good luck!

I got mine from Craigslist for free. Some of the gear is going in my S-250 which I am picking up with the trailer from the popup Friday.

I'd say, put an add in the 'Green' sheet, or whatever (FREE) area newspaper and see what turns up. Theres gazillions out there just setting rotting away, some still good, just needing to be got rid of by their owners. Some forclosures and such types desperatly needing to clear off thir property of 'someday dreams' or 'one'o these days I'm goin'a' stuff'. Shouldnt be too hard to locate one

I'm doing the same thing. In the last two weeks I spent less than $200 and got 2 heaters one 12,000 btu and one 22,000 btu, two water heaters, a couple big fresh water tanks, one with a level sensor and the gauge, a toliet with the tank for it. a colman roof top a/c unit (works just not real cold) , 40 or 50lb lp tank from an rv(hard mounted). I got lucky found a couple in the junk yards around here and they let everything go cheap. Oh ya I also got a couple 12volt to 110 converters 30 amp each.

No pictures as I havent even picked up the truck yet lol. I might go back this weekend and get a nice small shower out of a rv. or at least the shower pan and faucet. maybe another $30 while I'm there I'll look for another fram mounted lp tank, never have enough propane when your out in the middle of nowhere.

DC,

As for the frig and the stove, I'd use a Coleman propane camping stove and a 12 volt ice chest type cooler! You'll save about $600.00. I'm getting ready to engineer a trailer using all my camping gear so it all has a place and I'm going to create it in a modular fashion so I CAN TRANSFORM IT any time I want to! ;-)

I have a line on a plywood sided camper locally. We'll see!

A friend of mine drove The Cheetahmobile (M109) home for me today. He said the only probem he noticed was the exhaust elbow is shot and letting exhaust into the cab via the passenger side ventilator.
Time to get started on the light stuff. Doc says I can start with the heavy suff in about 2 weeks.:hammer:

BTW, how hard is it to replace an entire fender on a Deuce?
