Power steering for the Deuce?

I finially got my rebuilt steering box. What is up with the 10 splines?

I can't help but wonder if that isn't a sort of "fuse" designed in to keep from destroying the box itself if some sort of impact were to happen on a wheel end.

Working with the pitman arm. It is 9 1/8" center to center, so i welded up a boss area to change it to 7 1/2" or maybe 7". These arms are made of premium steel and weld and machine very nicely.

Steve, did you cut any length off of the arm before welding up the new boss area? It seems that you cut it shorter and then built the whole boss up with weld, is that correct? G, that is also some very nice craftsmanship on your piece.

Yes it is all weld, no splice or piece welded on. I cut about 1 1/2" off the end. Now i am looking for one of these yokes that has all splines, no flat spot.

Well today we got her setup and tore down, no turning back now on this M35A3. I will make it to the 2016 SS GA. meet with power steering or bust.

The upper front mount bolt on the steering box lines right up on the rivet hole that was left behind from the reinforcement plate. It has that circle on it. This looks like the place to put it. This is the same as M35A2 and A3.

Cut the large hole in frame, cut and brake up the flange. Drill a lot holes and plug weld one hole to the frame. My tank is from a 2000 up F650/ F750 power steering reservoir, i cut and welded in a section to double the capacity. The next couple of days I have a lot parts to make, machine from billet.

My slip is from a 1990's F700. This is what i have and the rest i make.
