Its all in the design of the engine. We used to have a Deutz 7085 tractor on the farm so I know what your talking about. Might have something to do with the compression ratios as well??????January 29th, 2010.
Makes me appreciate the intake heater system..... When it works, it's just a shot of diesel fuel and no replacing ether cans. The measured shot system does have its advantages over shooting it in the air intake..... too much ether and you have a dead diesel, as they really don't like ether all that much. What I have never figured out is how the deutz diesel make do without ether and start without glow plugs or other aids down to -20*F ((Air cooled FL912-4), whereas the American diesels seem not to be able to function at low temperatures without assists.....? I guess after the trip to Moscow in WWII, their engineers just figured winter happens?
