Well one thing had the next in line.... so we was one day at a point to decide just roadworthy or a complete job. We decide to go with the complete job.
That mean also we had on an oldtimer restoration some restriction.
We have the Sierra for more own styles and feature.

The only thing which i was in struggle was our rollbar and the own brushguard. In Germany you need a technical approval to become roadlicence. Today are these things not more allow but we got it in 1996. If the truck shown up in the annual technical control without them will they be erase from the roadlicence of this truck and of course will never got it back. Its a german issue of roadlicence. The truck is also with original turnlights in red. Today you have to add ugly additional turnlights if you want bring an american truck here for roadlicence. I have the original brushguard ready to mount and for an omdtimer meeting i can change them, like also take the front seats on the bed as the are not installed of the rollbar.
Otherwise the truck have also with original new headlamps a bad light that the additional lamps are an ease by nightrides.
Here you got an oldtimerstatus also if the truck is not complete original but equiped with things from that time. Mean you find a lot of Trucks which are lifted. A pure oldtimer lover will this not accept. Thats why our truck only got decent improvements which not destroy the military appearance and all is removeable to bring back pure original status.

I understand, german regulations are tough.. sometimes its redicilus. This case is one of that times. Its a good idea that you have photoed everything. Its very interesting topic and project.
Yes some things are strange. The M1102 trailer will never got roadlicense with original lights. So i build a removable lightbar and civilian electric to use on german roads. We registered him first in germany. Found him in NL. To stay with the original towbar and the pintlehitch i had high costs to find a pintlehitch with german roadlicence. But i was sucessful. The original pintlehitch never got roadlicence here except someone spent the high costs for a technical test of safety. And for roaduse you must be able to arrest the full moveable original hitch which is here only allow offroad.

I have a complete detailed documentation as it will end with an oldtimer-appraisel for insurance and the value. Imagine an accident... the average value is less than the today status. Without such an appraisel i got only the average value.

The original pintle hitch had to go in storage as it have no roadlicence in Germany

20241006_100104zu.jpg

the Nato pintle hitch fits into the bolt circle of the original Pintlehitch. I hope the TÜV is now satisfied and will later grant road approval

what absolutly not work for us is the universal shift linkeage bought for the 4l80e and not any other transmission... but we also not expected that i will fit.
Usually universal mean that special constellation will not really fit with it.
We have to build our own system... now of a puzzle of parts
I dont know how 1Love could mount this on a 4l80e in a Chevy M1008 without any customizing
Maybe he choose a better kit

Screenshot 2024-10-10 101350.png

it cant fit as the linkeage is straight and not with an ankle like belowe. There is not enough space to move for the lever without the ankle

Screenshot 2024-10-10 101215.png

we have already build yesterday a new lever with that ankle
These lever shown above belongs usually to other transmission than the 4l80e and other Trucks/Cars like Ford...
But this alone is not enough. The roundsteal have also to be bended to reach to the connection on the steering column

Where can I find old type? I font have it on My car
You mean the markings? There is a TM which unfortunately not covers all. I searched on internet and guyfang helped me to choose a real existing marking of that time.
I can give you my results.
You can buy templates in the correct size and font but it is expensive. You can also make your own template if you have the right font

We realized that we still have 3 sensor wires to bring into the cab for Dacota when we went through the engine compartment wiring.
That's what happens when you take a break for several months while working.... We thought we were done with the cab wiring.

We start again when we dismantle the entire halter in which Dacota was mounted under the dashboard.
It's too tight to get three more wires in... and you need access to it later.
The idea of putting it behind the dash was to stay with the glove box.
Now we've sacrificed the glove box and put everything on a new halter behind the glove box door.

As we have to adapt the plastic box of the glove door, I need a replacement beforehand. You already know that no original part will be destroyed.
In Germany, you can buy a used box in moderate condition from the three major US truck military dealers here in Germany for 150 euros plus 10 euros shipping.
In the USA there is a replacement plastic box for 32 dollars. So, as always, we will import it.
Example here: https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Holley-05-178-Glove-Box-73-87-Chevy-C-K-Truck-No-A-C,488273.html

Our box is almost like new - no wonder we've owned the truck for almost 30 years and the glove compartment has never actually been used...

for a first test about needed space on wood-plate

20241014_105320.jpg

all mounting points without cracks - seems to be rare, as all used i had seen have worn out and cracks
it will take again several hours to rebuild the halter for all that devices again. However it have to be done

We noticed also we had a broken original water sensor for the glowplugmodule and have to replace as you cant got anymore a sensor with this old connection

20241012_143525.jpg

20241012_142740.jpg

20241012_142753.jpg

we will use something like that (this is from a Dacota Sensor), with the number 10045847 will you have a result for replacement part

20241012_141818.jpg

The customized Lever for the Transmission shifter is ready and also painted now

20241012_103338.jpg 20241012_103343.jpg

We have our american vehicles collection enlarged with an used "little" Johnny to bring up the pasture of our horses healthy after they was on there. Who have horses know they eat selective and they let a lot of untouched.

20241011_160809.jpg

We was tired to use always the bad maintened machines of our farmer where we rent the pasture and stable.
In our own equipement was this the last what we need for our demands.

Sorry, I should have stated my current model is M1009. So indeed this will work if you are using the stock tranny or a 4L80E as my setup is using a 4L80E.

I have seen it in your build-thread.
I knew before that no universalkit exists for the 4l80e, 6.2 Diesel and Np205. Thats why we gone with the cableshifting unit on the Np205 which work perfect. Unfortunately was the decision for the Lokar cableshifting unit to steering column a bad choise. A friend with the same combination had a customized original shifting TH400 unit installed which work well. We dont wont destroy the original shifting unit. Used are none on the market. Now we go the same way with the universal shifting unit.

I honestly thought the stock setup would work with the 4L80E but that wasn't the case haha. The 4L805E is a wee bit longer.

Yes i know this before and you see in our rebuild what you need to customize if you go this route.
It is not a cheap, easy and fast solution. We will know if it is worth the money and effort when the truck is back on the road again.
