I knew of this process from a friend who worked for BNSF but never thought to apply it to anything I was doing. I guess I thought using heat was silly short of really big things. Well the 923 is big right? Working alone, getting that hub into my press and positioned was just not going to happen. Even if it did I would still be scrambling to come up with cups the right size to press. Long story short, races in the freezer, torch on the hub and it fell together all on its own. If you are faced with the prospect of trying to tap your races in by hand give this a try instead. Even if you have the proper press and cups you might just try it anyway for your own amusement.
